Dear <<First Name>>,
Throughout Advent, we lit candles in anticipation of the light of Christ coming at Christmas. Now that Christmas has come (not gone yet, not until the arrival of the wise men on Epiphany on January 6), we celebrate the Christ-light in the world.
As 2020 comes to a close, it may still feel difficult to see the light shining. As the virus spreads, those of us in London are required to stay at home, and church remains online only for foreseeable future.
I take comfort in remembering that the wise men travelled to meet Jesus by following a star. That means they they travelled at night: in the dark, unable to see clearly, surrounded by shadows.
God leads us when the night seems long and the shadows deep. God's starlight shines when other lights have dimmed. The Christ-light shines on us, even now.
