THIS WEEK AT AIC

Dear <<First Name>>,

There is lots of news below about Thanksgiving, post-lockdown reopening and all the rest. But I want to use these few paragraphs to invite you to join a special faith practice in the final weeks of 2020.

This Sunday begins the season of Advent, the four weeks preparing our hearts for Christmas. Lighting Advent candles is a longstanding Christian tradition perfect for you to do at home.

Pastor Jared (with some help from Hannah) prepared kits for all our families with children to make a wreath at home. Jonathan, Jared and I delivered as many as possible by hand, on foot, to be COVID secure. The rest were sent by post. Each came with "Liturgy for the Living Room," prayers for lighting a candle each week. (There are a few pictures below, but you can see all of them on our Facebook page.)

While we couldn't send out candles to everyone, we still encourage all of you to participate by making your own Advent wreath. All you need is five candles, four in a circle and one in the middle. Any candles you have on hand will work just fine. (My friend Liz Miller put together this brilliant and hilarious video with ideas. Watch it, and you'll know you can find a way to participate.)

You can save or print out the "Liturgy for the Living Room" here, prepared by Jared and shared across AIC. We hope you will take time to build your Advent wreath this weekend, and prepare to light your first candle as you sit down to watch this Sunday's service.

Although the lockdown is lifting, we all need the light of hope this winter season. Unite with us in prayer, in lighting candles, in Advent hope.

Faithfully,
Pastor Jennifer

Worship in Person -- RESUMES DECEMBER 6

As the lockdown lifts, we received news today that London will be placed into Tier 2, which allows us to resume Sunday morning worship beginning next week, December 6. The church leadership anticipates that we will remain open in Tier 2, but close if London is placed into Tier 3. Christmas plans will be announced in the coming weeks.

All our previous COVID Secure protocols remain in place: you must preregister, you must be free of symptoms and not be required to self-isolate, you must wear your mask at all times.

In addition, as we prepare our 2021 budget, we would appreciate it if you would take a few minutes to let us know of your plans for giving in the coming year, with this simple form
