THIS WEEK AT AIC

Dear <<First Name>>,

Most of us associate the story of Noah with childhood--with toys, books, murals and pictures of an ark full of animals with a bright rainbow above it. We remember it from our youth, but don't pay much attention.

Over the month of August, we will be revisiting the story of Noah with grown-up perspective, because it is a story that speaks truth and hope into our situation right now. The story of the flood is about what happens when the whole world as we've known it feels like it's coming to an end. Where is God? Where is salvation?

This week, we'll start with the hardest part: why? Why does this destruction and suffering befall the world?

From wherever you are, I hope you'll join us on YouTube on Sunday or anytime during the week.

Faithfully,
Pastor Jennifer

Update on Church Re-Opening
The Church Council met this Tuesday to consider plans for resuming worship in our sanctuary, beginning in September. A survey of the congregation and more detail will be sent via email tomorrow, July 31, about what to expect and whether you and your household might want to return in September. Please respond as you are able.

Our food market is reopening, slowly. Four traders have now opened, though business is slow. We are hopeful that there will sufficient foot traffic for their businesses to succeed, and for others to begin opening in the coming weeks.
Sunday Worship will premiere on YouTube and Facebook at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. This week, Pastor Jennifer begins the story of Noah with God announcing the flood. Nick Allen and Philippa Healey provide our music this week.
Last Sunday's Worship Service is available anytime as well, with a reflection from Pastor Jared on the Roman centurion's faithfulness, and music from Siobhain Gibson and Liam Dunachie, recorded from the sanctuary.

SERVE & GIVE
Support for Vulnerable People in Lockdown

If you are not considered vulnerable, are able to travel without using public transit, and would be willing to help someone who might need delivery of groceries, medicine or other items, please contact jonathan@amchurch.co.uk.

Giving: Your generosity matters more than ever.

We know that many people are facing challenging financial circumstances. AIC is in a solid position to weather the loss of Latchcourt income, but we will be relying more than usual on gifts from the congregation to keep our ministries going, our staff supported and our income flowing. If you are in a position to do so, we would ask you to consider making a special gift to support the church at this time, or to pay your 2020 pledge now, rather than across the course of the year.

You may give via bank transfer with the following information:
Beneficiary: The American Church in London
Sort Code: 40-05-16
Account Number: 81651498
A note on technology:

Zoom is an online platform to host video chat. It is free to use, but may require you to download an app to your phone, tablet or laptop.

Facebook will also host all our videos, including worship, Pause for Prayer and children’s messages. You do not need to have a Facebook account to view them, only to comment or engage.

AIC now has a YouTube channel. Subscribe or visit anytime for the latest worship services, pause for prayer moments, children’s messages and more.
