Dear <<First Name>>,

This week concludes our series on Ezra and Nehemiah, and stories about the return from exile, reunion of the community and rebuilding of the temple. We have heard week in, week out about how it is God's faithfulness, God's strength, God's grace, God's love and power that have made this restoration possible.

Now the story turns back to the people--to us. Yes, the renewal is only possible by the grace of God, but it is also going to make demands of you. The rebuilding requires sacrifice, generosity, commitment, faithfulness, intentionality, and labour. God has done much for us, how will we covenant to respond to God?

Join us to hear this invitation to respond with service and sacrifice to support the work of God's community.

Pastor Jennifer

Diversity & Inclusion at AIC
At our AGM on 26 September, the Church Council opened a churchwide discussion about justice, diversity, and inclusion in our congregation. Beginning with our Becoming Antiracist group, discussions have emerged in various areas of the church related to topics such as antiracism, accessibility and equal marriage. Our faith calls us to address inclusivity in many forms, and equal marriage has been brought forward as a next step for discussion and action. Opportunities for study, dialogue, and feedback are in the planning stage.
But we want to hear from you!
How do you want to engage with our community in this discussion? Please contact Elodie Lasserre, Jared Jaggers, or Jonathan Miller if you would like to help plan these conversations or to let us know how you would like to participate. Email for more information.

Autumn Plans for Children & Youth

As more of our community is regathering in person, we are helping our young people find a place to belong in the church; to help them know they are at home in the house of God.

  • Babies aged 0-3 are welcome in our crèche or to remain with parents in the sanctuary.
  • Our children ages 4-9 are welcome as part of our worshiping community, with a special place for them to worship through creativity and play in our PrayGround.
  • Children 10+ are encouraged to sit with their family and join in worship.
  • 10 October – Our next after-church Sunday school 12:30-14:00; continuing the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month. Lunch will be provided with activities and a lesson. All children and youth are welcome. Location will be outside as weather permits, pick up at AIC at 14:00

We hope to see you and your children soon!

Support Afghan Refugees in London

Due to our work with the Soup Kitchen, Cold Weather Shelter and West End Welcome refugee sponsorship, local government officials have reached out to our church requesting urgent involvement. I have been in multiple meetings so far, learning how we can respond with support and resources.

Around 8,000 Afghans have been welcomed to the UK with little to no wraparound support. Many are now finishing quarantine and being moved into bridging hotels for the next three to six months. Three of these hotels are located in South Camden near the church, and additional ones are near our borough borders in Westminster and Islington. In Camden alone, more than 1,700 Afghans have been welcomed in the past week, over 700 of whom are children.

At AIC, we are having urgent conversations as to how we might best support our new neighbors, no matter how long they are with us. We are actively talking with local government, community partners and volunteers to see how we might be placed to offer critical resettlement support to the arriving families, building upon the experience gained through our refugee sponsorship program which has been running for three years. And we will be needing your support! Look out for more communication in the days and weeks ahead, and also begin considering how you might personally support and welcome those arriving.

If you would like to get involved now, you can support those families arriving in Camden by purchasing urgent supplies via the council's Amazon Wishlist. In Westminster, you can already begin to offer practical and/or befriending support. Please do get in touch with me at if there are other ways in which you would like to be involved.
