THIS WEEK AT AIC

Dear <<First Name>>,

Happy New Year! Happy 10th Day of Christmas!

Sunday will be Epiphany or Three Kings Day, the final day of the Christmas season. We will mark the day with communion, and our third year of Star Gifts, simple paper stars with a word for contemplation for 2019. Each person receives a different word, and an invitation to pray and meditate on it for the year. Then after worship, we will do the most traditional thing of all: take down the Christmas tree! We could use your help.

I am fascinated by the journey of these visitors from the East. They are described as wise ones, because they had knowledge of the stars, but also wisdom to worship the infant Christ. They are also courageous--not just for the journey, but because they did not return to Herod as promised.

Wisdom and courage seem like two values urgently needed in the world today, and dependent upon one another. Join us to be strengthened and encouraged in your own search for wisdom and courage.

Faithfully,

Pastor Jennifer

Giving to AIC in 2019

God is up to something at our church right now. There is an energy and excitement about the Spirit calling us to new and greater ministries.

If you have already responded the invitation to support this work by making a giving commitment to the American International Church in 2019, THANK YOU.

Thanks to those who have already made a pledge, we are two-thirds of the way to our ambitious goal--a goal that would allow us to increase our staff to maintain a full-time position for community ministry while hiring another minister for children, youth and families.

If you have not yet made a commitment for 2019, we still need your help to reach our goal. We want to make it a little bit easier. You can simply click on this link to submit an online pledge form.

The Council will need to make plans for our 2019 staffing and budget early in the new year, and we need to know we can count on your support to grow the ministry of the American International Church.

Thank you for your faithful support, in sharing your time, talent and treasure.
Staffing Update

After seven years of faithful service, our Director of Worship and Music Scott Stroman will be headed on a sabbatical from January 1 through Easter Sunday. Scott will be using his sabbatical time to complete his Ph.D. coursework and thesis in composition. He will also have the opportunity to visit other churches, learn new music, get new ideas and return to AIC with fresh perspectives and renewed energy.

During his absence, Liam Dunachie and Joanna Davies will step up to plan and lead the choir and service music, in partnership with Pastor Jennifer. Both bring much expertise and energy, so we will be in good hands.

On Sunday, December 23, we will offer a blessing prayer for Scott during his sabbatical time, that the Spirit would be present to guide and renew him. We look forward to his return after Easter.

Pavement works have now started in earnest on Tottenham Court Road as a part of Camden's West End Project. Through access will be maintained during the works, but partial lane closures and periodic parking suspensions may be in effect. If you normally drive to the church, be prepared to factor this into your journey times. If you take the bus, check to make sure there are no diversions or changes.
