Dear <<First Name>>,

We often sing at Christmas: dona nobis pacem, grant us peace. Yet again this year, we yearn for peace in our world and in our anxious hearts this Christmas season.

Yet our Advent song on Sunday is a song of that promise fulfilled, peace obtained. It is sung by Simeon, a man in his elder years who has prayed all his life to meet the Messiah. He meets Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus when they bring the eight-day-old child to the temple to be dedicated. Simeon sees the Christ child and proclaims he can depart in peace. His life is complete, and he is ready and able to face the future (and his own death) unafraid.

On Sunday, we will offer prayers for peace, but we will also listen to Simeon's song, and wonder about what might give us peace and courage to live all our days at peace and unafraid.

COVID Update
As of now, our Christmas events below will proceed as planned. If guidance changes, we will share the news via this email, and online options will be available.

We encourage each of you to consider your own personal risk in deciding to come to worship, especially in light of the increased transmission of the Omicron variant. Online worship be available on Monday, and you can watch the previous week's worship on Sunday morning.

We require:
  • Everyone to wear a face covering at all times indoors.
  • Everyone to use hand sanitizer upon arrival.
  • Anyone with COVID symptoms to stay home.
We strongly encourage:
  • Everyone to take a home lateral flow test (free from the NHS) prior to coming to worship. (Our ministry team already does this.)
  • Everyone to get their vaccines and boosters as soon as possible.
  • Everyone to avoid socializing indoors, chatting instead outside before and after the worship service.
We will attend to the news as it unfolds and adjust our Christmas activities as needed.
Sunday Worship from 12 December

Join us for online Bible Study via Zoom.  On December 12 and 19, we'll be studying Advent and Christmas scriptures, then take a break until January 9.

Note the early start for those who want to attend Bible Study and then travel to worship.
