Dear <<First Name>>,
In many ways, this pandemic year has made us feel cut off from the world--isolated in our homes, unable to see family and friends, barred from international travel.
In other ways, it has reminded us how connected we are to the world. A tiny virus does not respect national borders or languages or wealth, and requires all of us to act together to stop it. The shift to online gatherings (whether work or church) allows people from many countries to attend. Calls and conversations become more valuable than ever. Even our walks in the park remind us how connected we are to plants and trees in the natural world.
This week, we'll read the prayer that Jesus offered before his death: "that they may all be one." As we slowly return to our beloved people and activities, how can we maintain this sense of connection? God has created the earth and all its people and creatures to be interconnected. How can we live as one?
