THIS WEEK AT AIC
View this email in your browser
Dear <<First Name>>,

"Would you like a cup of tea?"

The invitation to a cup of tea is never just about the tea. It is a sign of hospitality, an opening to conversation, a sign of care and concern for the other, and an opportunity to rest from stress or work for a few minutes.

This week, our Lent in the Living Room object is a tea bag, inviting us to pause for a chat with God. On Sunday, Jared will be reflecting on the story of Jesus calming the storm at sea, reminding us that Jesus didn't just take tea breaks or meal breaks--he took nap breaks, too!

Imagine Jesus asking you if you'd like a cup of tea. It's a sign of hospitality, an opening to conversation, a sign of care and an opportunity to rest. Won't you accept?

Faithfully,
Pastor Jennifer

WORSHIP
Worship Online

Sunday Worship for 7 March will premiere on YouTube and Facebook at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, and be available anytime after. Pastor Jared will talk about "Calm," and Siobhain Gibson and Liam Dunachie will provide the music.

Last Sunday's service below continued our Lenten series, with Pastor Jennifer's reflections on healing for body and soul, and music from Joanna Davies.
Lent in the Living Room

This Lent, although we will not be gathering in person, your ministry team invites you to a season of prayer, worship, and spiritual growth. Here are a few tools to guide you through Lent.

Daily Prayers for Lent
  • You can find this week's daily prayers here. New prayers will be sent weekly on Tuesdays by email.
  • You can also receive the prayer daily via WhatsApp. This is an option that requires you to opt-in by adding Pastor Jared as a contact in your mobile device and sending him a WhatsApp message: Jared Jaggers, +44 75656 87333. (Your details will not be shared or visible to anyone else receiving the message, and replies will only go directly to Jared.)

Create a Lenten Altar
Objects with a Spiritual Focus for Each Week

We have sent the objects below to the children and youth of AIC. Join in by gathering these items by Ash Wednesday and the weekly email will offer some explanation to focus your prayers and reflections for the week.
  • Dirt or ashes – a tablespoon or two will do, in a small dish or somewhere on your "altar."
  • Something broken – our children will receive a cracked/broken bouncy ball, but you can use anything that's broken beyond repair.
  • Tea bag – you may already have this one on hand! Simply add one bag to your altar.
  • Stone – a small stone for each member of your household; make sure it will fit in your hand and in a pocket.
  • Chocolates – a piece of chocolate for each member of your household; fair trade if at all possible.
Choose a Traditional Lenten Fast and Focus on Serving Others
  • Follow this "40 Acts" calendar with a simple action to show love toward someone else that day. (It has been created for children, but is suitable for children of all ages!)
  • Sign up for International Justice Mission's “Slave Free Lent” – https://www.ijmuk.org/slavefreelent - IJM will send you text messages with ideas for how take action against human trafficking. Each week of Lent it will challenge you to give up something for that week that often involves labour of enslaved people.
Sunday Evening Zoom Worship

This informal, 45-minute service focuses on connection, community and communion. We will reflect and pray together on a scripture, then share communion. Bring wine, juice or water, and bread or cracker for communion.
