THIS WEEK AT AIC

Dear <<First Name>>,

All Saints Day and All Souls Day position us in time. These church days invite us to look backwards at all those who have gone before--the great and inspiring saints who have shown us what it is to love God, and the ordinary faithful who have been a part of our lives and loves. We remember their history and our own, giving thanks for the long chain of faithful Christians who have come before.

But All Saints and All Souls Days also ever point us forward. When we give thanks for those who have gone before, we take hope in the promise of resurrection, that they are now able to see God face to face. We look ahead in gratitude to the day we can be reunited in God's realm. We imagine the day when all the world becomes sainted, the kingdom of God when we learn to dwell with one another in peace, justice and joy.

On Sunday, we will take note of our position in time. During Communion, you will be invited to come to the altar and light a candle to honour those saints and souls that you have loved and lost. The witness of the saints will encourage us forward, to the future of hope and resurrection God has planned.

Faithfully,
Pastor Jennifer

Let Us Give Thanks

All Church Thanksgiving Lunch
Sunday 21 November 2021, after worship

Once again, we will gather together.  We hope you will join us downstairs after the service.  The most important aspects of giving thanks and enjoying fellowship together are still in place.  But, to be as Covid-safe as possible, we will make a few changes.

Please do not bring any food to share.*  Instead, Josh and Elodie will bless us with their wonderful cooking of turkey and all the side dishes.  All people involved in preparation will take home tests in advance.

We ask all those planning to attend to take a home test that morning if you are able.  We will be unmasked for most of our time together while we eat and drink, but ask all to wear masks when standing or walking around the room.

We will make multiple changes to how we serve food and tidy up afterwards.  We are counting on your help during the meal and after. Please be in touch with Nicole Joffe if you can serve or clean up.

For anyone who does not feel ready to stay through an unmasked meal, please join us for the blessing while we are all still wearing masks.

For those who are able, we ask for a contribution.  Our recommendation is £5 per person 12 and older.

Because we are providing all the food, reservations are strongly encouraged. Please email info@amchurch.co.uk with the number of people in your group who plan to attend.

* Vegetarian options will be available.  However, if you have any other  special dietary needs (e.g.:  vegan, gluten-free) we ask you to bring food for yourself only.
CONVERSATIONS ON MARRIAGE, GENDER & SEXUALITY

At our AGM on 26 September, the Council asked for your feedback to begin a conversation about diversity & inclusion, specifically about the topic of equal marriage. We will be offering the programs below based on your input.

Are there other ways you want to engage with our community in this discussion? Please contact Elodie Lasserre, Jared Jaggers, or Jonathan Miller if you would like to help plan these conversations or to let us know how you would like to participate. Email info@amchurch.co.uk for more information.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

Autumn Plans for Children & Youth

As more of our community is regathering in person, we are helping our young people find a place to belong in the church; to help them know they are at home in the house of God.

  • Babies aged 0-3 are welcome in our crèche or to remain with parents in the sanctuary.
  • Our children ages 4-9 are welcome as part of our worshiping community, with a special place for them to worship through creativity and play in our PrayGround.
  • Children 10+ are encouraged to sit with their family and join in worship.
We hope to see you and your children soon!

Faithfully,
Pastor Jared
