Dear <<First Name>>,

This week has been a stressful one. Christmas plans have been upended, the new virus variant is alarming, Tier 4 isolating and Brexit uncertainty looming.

Fear, loneliness, uncertainty, hopelessness abound. Yet this why Christ comes to us, on earth, in our suffering and struggling. This is where the church responds to extend love in Christ's name.

With that faith commitment, we have expanded our Christmas plans for the coming week, emphasizing opportunities to find community and encouragement.

We will gather in-person on Christmas Eve, knowing that for some this will be their only chance for in-person interaction for the entire holiday period. The choir will sing indoors from 17:30-17:50, and we will all head outdoors for a simplified carol service from 18:00. Please carefully consider your own level of risk and use of public transit if you choose to attend. You are welcome to attend only the indoor or outdoor portion, via the same registration below.

If you are staying home, I encourage you to tune in to any of the carol services from the cathedrals. Kings College is the most famous, and plays on BBC Radio 4 at 15:00 on Christmas Eve. We will also be sending a short Christmas Eve video to you, via email, after our evening service concludes.

On Christmas morning and Sunday morning, 27th December, we will gather online via Zoom. That means there will not be a pre-recorded service on YouTube this Sunday. However, we would love for you to join us live on Zoom for a casual, joyous time of worship and community.

Finally, we are trying to reach out directly to those of you we know who are on your own. If you need support and connection during a potentially lonely time, please reach out to any one of us, and we will be glad to talk and pray together. Our contact details are at the bottom of this message.

Christ was born into a world just like this--uncertain, lonely, afraid, suffering. At his birth long ago, the angels proclaimed "good news!" We too will proclaim the good news of God at Christmas, always.

Pastor Jennifer
