Dear <<First Name>>,

This Sunday, author Kate Nicholas will be our guest preacher. Friend of AIC member Zena Martin, Kate is the former head of global communications for World Vision. After a life-changing diagnosis and healing from stage 4 cancer, Kate is now on a journey toward ordination as a priest in the Church of England.

She will bring a message about the power of healing, trust and transformation by God's power. Her book Sea Changed, published in 2016 and now the subject of a TV series on TBN, tells her amazing story.

We hope to see you there.

Cold Weather Shelter 2019
Our 2019 shelter season is starting this week, and there are still plenty of shifts to fill later in the season. The dinner shift runs from 6:30 to 9pm, and breakfast shift from 7 to 9am each Wednesday night and Thursday morning from January 30/31 to March 27/28. We also need volunteers who are willing to take home a bag of laundry each week, wash it, and return it the following Sunday. If you would like to get involved, email
Shelter Recap: January 30 and 31
Our second night of the cold weather shelter season was a blast! We had 16 guests again—13 men and 3 women—but a few of them were new faces. Our youngest guest was just 18 while our oldest one was a 65 year-old man from Italy. Even with such a diverse group, though, bonds are forming, and there was a great spirit in the air last night as we all gathered for dinner.

Dinner this week was chili, cornbread, green beans and salad, all prepared beforehand by Nicole Joffe. Holly Howard led the finishing touches in the kitchen along with the other volunteers. The vegetarian chili ended up getting a bit spicy, but the guests actually enjoyed it more that way. They also really appreciated the snickerdoodle cookies that our youth group made last Sunday for dessert.

Sophie, one of our church receptionists, stayed overnight with Jonathan. We were able to spread out into the main hall which meant everyone had plenty of room, and the snorer had his own separate room to the benefit of all (though we did find out that there is someone else who talks in his sleep)! For breakfast, we welcomed a team of seven from Multiplex’s head office who cooked up a full English breakfast.

Finally, we had great take-up on our first try of having members of the congregation take home the laundry. Thank you to Judith Chilcote, Jim Daley and Katherine Hall.
Special Guest -- February 17
On Sunday, February 17, Rev. Andrew Prasad, Moderator of the Thames North Synod of the United Reformed Church will join Pastor Jennifer in worship leadership and bring a message. AIC is a member of the URC, and Rev. Prasad oversees our region. We look forward to building our relationship with our fellow URC congregations, and learning more about our mutual ministry.
New to the American International Church?
You’re invited to join us for lunch after worship on Sunday, February 24. We’ll get to know one another, share some information about AIC, and help you find ways to connect. In addition, we will be officially welcoming new members on Sunday, March 3, if you are interested in joining. All are welcome to the luncheon, whether or not you want to become a member.
Youth Outing
Our next Youth Outing will be March 3, and we’ll launch into Lent by learning out the Bible and where it came from.  We will be having an early Shrove/Pancake/Fat Tuesday by having a pancake lunch with all of the youth. This will be followed by a discussion on the Bible: what is it, why do we still use it today and how should we best approach reading it, all to encourage the youth to take up some daily Bible reading during Lent. We'll finish with a trip to the British Library to view some of their early Biblical manuscripts. Open to all youth ages 11+. No cost, but please bring your Oyster card. Come, and invite a friend!

Pavement works are taking place on Tottenham Court Road as a part of Camden's West End Project. Through access is being maintained during the works, but partial lane closures and periodic parking suspensions are in effect. If you normally drive to the church, be prepared to factor this into your journey times. If you take the bus, check to make sure there are no diversions or changes.
