THIS WEEK AT AIC

Dear <<First Name>>,

Lockdown has again transferred all our activities online, even as we are coming into one of our richest and most gathered seasons. We will still celebrate all the holidays and holy days this year, though everything may look different.

Last week, we marked Remembrance Day, and you'll see below that we have plans for online services for Thanksgiving, including our partnership with St. Paul's and the U.S. Embassy. Advent plans are also well underway, and you'll hear more in a few weeks.

With one of my favourite hymns, we sing, "grant us wisdom, grant us courage, for the living of these days!" This Sunday, we look at God's gift of wisdom, and pray for the courage to live it out. May wisdom and courage guide us in the days ahead.

Faithfully,
Pastor Jennifer

WORSHIP
Worship Online Anytime

Sunday Worship for November 15 will premiere on YouTube and Facebook at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, and be available anytime after.

Last week's online service is available below. Pastor Jennifer about Remembrance and forgiveness, with the special blessing of music from the AIC Choir.
THANKSGIVING
Thanksgiving Sunday -- November 22
Participants needed!  What are you thankful for?

Normally, we would gather for a festival service and fellowship meal. Since we can't gather in person, we hope to gather many faces in our online service, by asking you to submit short videos of yourself, sharing a word of gratitude.

For children and youth, simply answer this question: What are you thankful for this year?

For adults, take 60-90 seconds to reflect on manna in the wilderness, Exodus 16. What have been the gifts God has provided you, that have sustained you through the last eight months? What is the daily bread that sustains you, for which you want to thank God?

If you want to participate, please be in touch with Pastor Jennifer, jmk@amchurch.co.uk. Deadline for video submissions is Thursday, November 19. They will be shared in our AIC Sunday service on YouTube on November 22.

CHILDREN & YOUTH
As we have entered a second lockdown here in London, our children's ministry is evolving once again. Tune in on our YouTube channel each Friday afternoon for Bible Story Time! One of your AIC staff will read a Bible story to our children along with some curious questions to spark our holy imaginations. Last week's link is above, a new one will be shared tomorrow on our YouTube page.

PRAYER & SUPPORT
Our Pause for Prayer, now available every Wednesday, offers an invitation to stop from the hustle and bustle and spend a few minutes with God. During November, we will have a mission focus each week, starting with the Soup Kitchen.

SERVE & GIVE
Support for Vulnerable People in Lockdown

If you are not considered vulnerable, are able to travel without using public transit, and would be willing to help someone who might need delivery of groceries, medicine or other items, please contact jonathan@amchurch.co.uk.

Giving: Your generosity matters more than ever.

We know that many people are facing challenging financial circumstances. AIC is in a solid position to weather the loss of Latchcourt income, but we will be relying more than usual on gifts from the congregation to keep our ministries going, our staff supported and our income flowing. If you are in a position to do so, we would ask you to consider making a special gift to support the church at this time, or to pay your 2020 pledge now, rather than across the course of the year.

You may give via bank transfer with the following information:
Beneficiary: The American Church in London
Sort Code: 40-05-16
Account Number: 81651498
A note on technology:

Zoom is an online platform to host video chat. It is free to use, but may require you to download an app to your phone, tablet or laptop.

Facebook will also host all our videos, including worship, Pause for Prayer and children’s messages. You do not need to have a Facebook account to view them, only to comment or engage.

AIC now has a YouTube channel. Subscribe or visit anytime for the latest worship services, pause for prayer moments, children’s messages and more.
