THIS WEEK AT AIC

Dear <<First Name>>,

We're keeping on this whole month with the story of Noah and the Flood. In light of the terrible explosion in Beirut and the storms across the United States and South Korea making news this week, we don't even need the coronavirus pandemic to prompt reflections on destruction and disaster.

Last week, I started our conversation about "why?" Why does God allow terrible things to happen? I don't know. If  you missed it, that first service is linked below.

This week, I want to talk about "how?" Specifically, how does God help us when disaster comes? The biblical story continues, as God's announcement of destruction is immediately followed by a plan for salvation--summoning Noah to build the ark for his family and all the animals.

I hope you can join us for worship and any of our activities below.

Faithfully,
Pastor Jennifer

Update on Church Re-Opening

Please complete the survey below to indicate if your household would be prepared to return to in-person worship in September.

You can read more information here about what to expect, and how church will be very different for the foreseeable future--including requiring preregistration in order to attend. Please take time to consider what is best for you and your household and let us know, so we can make plans.

IMPORTANT NOTE: We know that many will not be safely able to attend at this time, and services will remain available online even when we begin to worship in person again.

Our food market is reopening, slowly. Four traders have now opened, though business is slow. We are hopeful that there will sufficient foot traffic for their businesses to succeed, and for others to begin opening in the coming weeks.

Sunday Worship will premiere on YouTube and Facebook at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. This week, Pastor Jennifer continues the story of the Flood, as God summons Noah to build the ark. Jonathan Eyers provides our music this week.
Last Sunday's Worship Service is available anytime as well, with the opening of the series on Noah wrestling with why terrible things (from floods to pandemics) happen in God's world. Beautiful music from Nick Allen and Philippa Healey.

SERVE & GIVE
Support for Vulnerable People in Lockdown

If you are not considered vulnerable, are able to travel without using public transit, and would be willing to help someone who might need delivery of groceries, medicine or other items, please contact jonathan@amchurch.co.uk.

Giving: Your generosity matters more than ever.

We know that many people are facing challenging financial circumstances. AIC is in a solid position to weather the loss of Latchcourt income, but we will be relying more than usual on gifts from the congregation to keep our ministries going, our staff supported and our income flowing. If you are in a position to do so, we would ask you to consider making a special gift to support the church at this time, or to pay your 2020 pledge now, rather than across the course of the year.

You may give via bank transfer with the following information:
Beneficiary: The American Church in London
Sort Code: 40-05-16
Account Number: 81651498
A note on technology:

Zoom is an online platform to host video chat. It is free to use, but may require you to download an app to your phone, tablet or laptop.

Facebook will also host all our videos, including worship, Pause for Prayer and children’s messages. You do not need to have a Facebook account to view them, only to comment or engage.

AIC now has a YouTube channel. Subscribe or visit anytime for the latest worship services, pause for prayer moments, children’s messages and more.
