THIS WEEK AT AIC

Dear <<First Name>>,

We've been walking with Noah's story for the last four weeks, and this week we finally get to the big, dramatic finale: God's rainbow promise never to destroy the earth again.

I've been looking forward to this part of the story as a source of hope and uplift, because the storms of our world do not seem to be lifting anytime soon. From the virus to violence, from racism to corruption to economic worries, from hurricanes to wildfires, on top of our personal worries, I think we could all use some rainbow hope right now.

This Sunday, come to hear the good news of God. As we've learned from Noah all along, God's hope is not the same and not as simple as "happliy ever after." Instead, it is a hope for right now, with a stronger power of resurrection, love and grace. It's good news.

Faithfully,
Pastor Jennifer

Update on Church Re-Opening

The Council met this week and confirmed plans to regather for in-person worship in September, with strict guidelines and online worship also continuing. Pre-registration will be required. A detailed email will be sent tomorrow, August 29, with a new schedule and plan for our ministry in September, along with the link to "book your pew" for September 6.

If you want an idea of what to expect when we re-gather, please take the survey below. This is the last chance, as the survey will close tomorrow at noon.
Take the Survey
Sunday Worship will premiere on YouTube and Facebook at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. This week, Pastor Jennifer winds up the story of Noah with the rainbow and promise of God's faithfulness. Nick Allen and Liam Dunachie provide the music.
Last Sunday's Worship Service talks about the risk of leaving the ark, with Pastor Jennifer reflecting on Noah's birds. Siobhain Gibson and Liam Dunachie provide the music. Recorded again from the sanctuary!
COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS
Conversation on Racial Justice
The Book Group on Akala's Natives wrapped up, but the group recognised the importance of continued conversation and action to stand up to racism. We have decided to regather fortnightly on Monday evenings, starting September 14, for a conversation based on an article or film, and open the conversation to any who would like to join in. Details will follow in the coming week.

SERVE & GIVE
The NHS has reached out to our church to ask for help in research to save lives from COVID-19. If you or anyone you know has recovered from COVID-19, please consider donating plasma to help treat patients with the virus. It is safe, and only takes about 45 minutes. There is a site near to the church. You can sign up by calling 0300 123 23 23 or completing the online form at www.nhsbt.nhs.uk.
Support for Vulnerable People in Lockdown

If you are not considered vulnerable, are able to travel without using public transit, and would be willing to help someone who might need delivery of groceries, medicine or other items, please contact jonathan@amchurch.co.uk.

Giving: Your generosity matters more than ever.

We know that many people are facing challenging financial circumstances. AIC is in a solid position to weather the loss of Latchcourt income, but we will be relying more than usual on gifts from the congregation to keep our ministries going, our staff supported and our income flowing. If you are in a position to do so, we would ask you to consider making a special gift to support the church at this time, or to pay your 2020 pledge now, rather than across the course of the year.

You may give via bank transfer with the following information:
Beneficiary: The American Church in London
Sort Code: 40-05-16
Account Number: 81651498
A note on technology:

Zoom is an online platform to host video chat. It is free to use, but may require you to download an app to your phone, tablet or laptop.

Facebook will also host all our videos, including worship, Pause for Prayer and children’s messages. You do not need to have a Facebook account to view them, only to comment or engage.

AIC now has a YouTube channel. Subscribe or visit anytime for the latest worship services, pause for prayer moments, children’s messages and more.
