Dear <<First Name>>,

Every conversation I have these days seems to end with a mutual shrug. "We just don't know, do we?" What will happen with schools, offices, winter? Will the number of COVID-19 cases increase, decrease, or stay the same?

Everything is uncertain, and it feels impossible to make plans beyond a very short time horizon. And even those plans can change in an instant!

Most of us aren't used to living this way. We book up our lives well in advance, so we can anticipate the good things and prepare for the difficult ones. Living with uncertainty is stressful.

Thankfully, our faith has a lot of perspective and help to offer, as we are not the first of God's children to live in uncertain times. Throughout September, we've given our worship series the cheeky title "To Be Decided," because that best captures the spirit of the mutual shrug we are all sharing.

Even so, we do have some plans. We hold them lightly, knowing all can change, but this Sunday we will regather for worship in the sanctuary at 11:00 a.m. We will follow strict guidelines for social distancing. While pre-booking is required, there is currently plenty of room, and booking will remain open as long as space is available, including on Sunday morning. Those of you remaining at home can still catch us on YouTube starting at 11:00 Sundays as well.

In addition, Bible study, children's Sunday School and youth group are all re-launching, in ways that will be flexible to adapt to changing circumstances. Details are below.

Life remains uncertain, but God is not. May we lean into God's abiding presence and peace as we navigate each week together.

Pastor Jennifer

Giving: Your generosity matters more than ever.

We know that many people are facing challenging financial circumstances. AIC is in a solid position to weather the loss of Latchcourt income, but we will be relying more than usual on gifts from the congregation to keep our ministries going, our staff supported and our income flowing. If you are in a position to do so, we would ask you to consider making a special gift to support the church at this time, or to pay your 2020 pledge now, rather than across the course of the year.

You may give via bank transfer with the following information:
Beneficiary: The American Church in London
Sort Code: 40-05-16
Account Number: 81651498
A note on technology:

Zoom is an online platform to host video chat. It is free to use, but may require you to download an app to your phone, tablet or laptop.

Facebook will also host all our videos, including worship, Pause for Prayer and children’s messages. You do not need to have a Facebook account to view them, only to comment or engage.

AIC now has a YouTube channel. Subscribe or visit anytime for the latest worship services, pause for prayer moments, children’s messages and more.
