Dear <<First Name>>,

Whether you are here in the UK or elsewhere around the world, you have probably heard about the COP-26 climate change conference taking place in Glasgow next week. This is a critical moment for the world to come together and set a path towards not only halting human-induced climate change but to also begin imagining what damage we can yet reverse.

But is it too late? Can we as Christians--and a global community--repent for all of the destruction we have caused and find a way forward? The prophets of the Old Testament give us some thoughts on that: our inability to love one another and care for creation has already brought bloodshed and destruction, and no one (not even the church) is without blame. We have stumbled and will continue to stumble again.

Yet, there is (possibly, for now) some hope left. We know what the Bible says about caring for creation, and we know what we can and must do to save our planet. So instead of me simply reminding you of that our lecturing for fifteen minutes this coming Sunday, we're going to be lifting up some of the voices--some of your voices--which have been speaking into this space and imagining a better, healed world.

We also have the gift of a baby dedication and infant baptism this week! I can think of no better representation of our shared commitment to a better future than in the vows we make to our youngest members.

Join us as we explore all of this together.

In Faith,
Jonathan Miller
Community Minister

Join us on Sundays at 11:00 a.m. Choir and children's message return, communion will be served, and we will be able to sing together throughout the service.

Reminder of our COVID protocols:
  1. Face coverings over the nose and mouth are required to attend worship.
  2. Pews are marked with signage and lines indicating 1m social distance, so that it is easy to choose a seat that maintains appropriate space.
  3. Sign-in is now optional, using either the NHS app or paper sign-in sheet.
  4. All are required to use hand sanitizer upon entry to the building.
  5. Fellowship time remains outside, as outdoor gathering is much safer than indoors.

Autumn Plans for Children & Youth

As more of our community is regathering in person, we are helping our young people find a place to belong in the church; to help them know they are at home in the house of God.

  • Babies aged 0-3 are welcome in our crèche or to remain with parents in the sanctuary.
  • Our children ages 4-9 are welcome as part of our worshiping community, with a special place for them to worship through creativity and play in our PrayGround.
  • Children 10+ are encouraged to sit with their family and join in worship.
  • 24 October – Our next youth activities 12:30-14:00; continuing the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month. Lunch will be provided with activities and a lesson. All children and youth are welcome. Location in the AIC building, pick up at 14:00.

We hope to see you and your children soon!
