THIS WEEK AT AIC
View this email in your browser
Dear <<First Name>>,

Our series on Elijah comes to an end this week, as we hear the story of the end of his life and his ascent to heaven--alongside Elisha, to whom he hands over the mantle of his ministry. This story promises God will safely see Elijah into heaven, and shows Elisha's grief mixed with hope and opportunity.

For us, the story falls alongside All Saints and All Souls day, which invites us to also to remember those who have gone ahead of us to heaven, to remember God's promises to see us safely through the end of this life, and contemplate the legacy of faith we will leave to those who follow.

On Sunday, our Communion service will include time to light candles and name those we have loved and lost, but it will also point us forward into the future, encouraging us in faith to imagine the gifts we can bequeath to those who follow us.

Faithfully,

Pastor Jennifer

Cold Weather Shelter starts November 6!
For 2019-2020, we have doubled our commitment to housing up to 16 people every Wednesday night in partnership with C4WS in Camden. Volunteers are needed for dinner, breakfast and overnight shifts. Please contact Jonathan Miller (jonathan@amchurch.co.uk) or sign up directly and learn more at https://signup.com/go/okqOxWW

Is AIC your church home? Become a member!

If you have been worshiping with AIC for awhile and consider it to be your church home, we would prayerfully ask you to contemplate membership. Membership represents a commitment to live your faith by attending, supporting and engaging with the work of AIC, and makes you a full participant in our democratic decision-making process.

We will be organizing groups to join on Sundays, October 27 and November 17, and we would love to welcome you. There will be a luncheon meeting on November 10 to learn more, or you can reach out to Pastor Jennifer at jmk@amchurch.co.uk to learn more about what membership means.
West End Welcome Refugee Sponsorship

AIC is partnering with Bloomsbury Baptist Church and the Quakers to sponsor a refugee family under the Home Office Community Sponsorship Scheme. Plans are moving quickly, and we anticipate welcoming this family before Christmas. Jonathan Miller is leading the effort, and you can e-mail him (jonathan@amchurch.co.uk) for more information.

Sunday School and Adult Education programs have resumed!

Adult Bible Study starts at 9:45 a.m. in the Choir Room.
This week, we will look at the three parables in Luke 15.

Children ages 4-10 will join the first part of worship
then adjourn to children’s church.

The Creche is open, as always, from 9:45 to 12:15.
