Dear <<First Name>>,
The great exemplars of faith have something in common: their faith gives them courage. Think of Daniel in the lion's den. Esther challenging the king's threat to her people. David challenging Goliath. Hannah giving her beloved son to God. Paul and Silas singing in jail.
Whatever faith is, we aspire to have a faith that gives us the courage to act boldly in response to God's action in our midst. Even more, we pray that our faith will give us courage to face all the trials and trauma that life throws at us--broken relationships, political uncertainty, grief over a lost loved one, a frightening diagnosis, ethical confrontations.
This Sunday, we'll be talking about this aspect of faith beyond belief--courage in the face of fear. Whatever frightens you, troubles your soul, worries your heart, disturbs your sleep, gives you anxiety: face it with faith, because God grants courage.
