Young Person's Guarantee

If your organisation is taking on apprentices, utilising kickstart or supporting schools now or you plan to in the future, then please sign up to the Young Person’s Guarantee. The YPG is a commitment to bring together employers, partners and young people. We already have a great list of employers who have joined the YPG and each of them are doing 1 or more of the following 5 asks:

What are the aims of Young Person’s Guarantee?

To prepare young people for the world of work through engaging with education, work experience and work-based learning opportunities
Engage with and provide opportunities to young people who face barriers to work
Create apprenticeships, training and upskilling opportunities for young people
Create jobs and opportunities for young people
Create an inclusive workplace to enable young people to meet their potential

My Climate Path

We're still looking for Climate Heroes!

My Climate Path is an education legacy initiative for Scotland's young people led by DYW Glasgow and supported by DYW West & DYW LED. Designed to maximise #COP26 it supports the Scottish Government's Young Person's Guarantee commitment to every 16-24 year old in Scotland of an opportunity that will positively impact their future.

DYW are looking for "climate heroes" (industry partners and passionate individuals) to help influence and inspire our young people on the career pathways to enter the new green economy. We want various industries to demonstrate to young people that all sectors of Scotland’s economy are needed to come together to support Scotland’s ambitious climate goals.

Scottish Apprenticeship Week 22

Scottish Apprenticeship Week is back on the 7th-11th March 2022

Scottish Apprenticeship Week shines a light on the vital role apprenticeships play in supporting people, employers and the economy.

This year’s theme is Apprenticeships Work, with the aim to highlight how apprenticeships are providing the skills employers need now and for the future.

ROCCO 2021 Winner

The ROCCOs, the Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce's annual business awards ceremony, were back for another year in November, with the DYW West team in attendance!

We were delighted to be sponsoring the ROCCO Award for Developing the Young Workforce. Our Programme Director, Bob Davidson, along with Career Ready pupil Robert, presented the award to winners Rolls-Royce.

Congratulations to Rolls-Royce and all of the other winners and nominees on the evening!

STEM Ambassadors In Scotland Week

STEM Ambassador in Scotland Week 2022 is a celebration of all things STEM
Ambassador from 31st Jan - 6th Feb.

During the week STEM Ambassadors will cover a range of topics from careers and skills to innovation in Scotland. This includes the opportunity to work with STEM Ambassadors through Careers Carnival sessions, partner/STEM Ambassador workshops, blogs and other resources.

DYW Virtual Careers

Your Year, Your Career is a social media signposting campaign to a range of sector specific virtual resources for S1s, S2s and S3s. The resources are for educators to be able to use within their classrooms or for young people and parents to learn about the world of work at home.

Resources for the following sectors have been developed:

Food and Drink (Tasty Careers)
Healthcare (Healthy Careers)
Energy (Energising Careers)
Construction (Build Your Future)
Creative Industries (Discover Creative)
