We are pleased to announce the continuation of our successful VET 4 T&L program, extended until March 2019.

Established since 2014 and funded by the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training; VET 4 T&L is an industry engagement program covering all sectors of industry – road transport, passenger transport, logistics, rail, aviation and maritime.

The project aims to raise awareness about vocational education and training opportunities available to industry. VET 4 T&L is also committed to providing feedback to the Queensland government about current and future skilling priorities as identified by industry.

AIS Industry Skills Forum

Australian Industry Standards (AIS) is hosting a series of Industry Skills Forums across the country to explore the current and future skills needs of the 11 industry sectors supported by AIS. The theme for the forums is digital transformation and "future skilling".

Kerry O’Brien will MC the upcoming AIS Industry Skills Forums to be held around the country. He will also moderate discussions by two panels of industry leaders at each forum. These will focus on the current and future skills challenges facing our industries.

The day will include industry-specific breakout sessions to provide you with an opportunity to have your say on the skills needed to ensure the workforce is ready for the challenges ahead.

IRC Skills Forecasts 2018

The final 2018 IRC Skills Forecasts are now available for viewing. The IRC Skills Forecasts focus on the 
prioritisation of the skill needs of the industry sectors each IRC has responsibility for. They are developed and reviewed annually and submitted on behalf of the IRC to the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) for approval.

Advancing Apprentices Fund

The Advancing Apprentices Fund will partner the Queensland Government with industry to promote apprenticeship pathways and to encourage businesses to employ apprentices.

Approved projects will conduct a variety of industry-specific or local marketing campaigns to advance apprenticeships in Queensland.

Applications are now open to eligible industry bodies and Queensland businesses (directly involved with apprentices).

Help improve the national training website

Every year the Australian Department of Education and Training’s website,, draws more than 7 million visits, making it an authoritative source of information for stakeholders and participants in the VET sector. And now you can help improve it even further.

A targeted review of the website is underway and the federal government is keen to hear from the site’s users on improving the design and user experience of the website.
