March 2016 Headlines

The Pittsburgh Tri-State team reports donations from recent Lifeline fundraiser events at over $65,000! Lifeline also recognizes the following host organizations who sponsored new fundraising events in the Tri-State region: the Generalovich family (Pitt vs Syracuse Watch Party), Klub Karadjordje of the St. Nicholas Church in Monroeville (proceeds from fish fry), and the Sunday school of the Holy Resurrection Church in Steubenville, OH (luncheon proceeds).
Our heartfelt appreciation to Mrs. Margaret McCarten, who made a $20,000 donation to Lifeline, which is earmarked for repairing mold damage at the Gavrilo Princip School. Mrs McCarten was presented with a donor recognition by George Topich of Pittsburgh.
The John and Mildred Medic Wuchenich Foundation of CA donated $60,000 to purchase beds and bedding supplies for the Kovin Psychiatric Hospital. Board Members Melanie Sever, center, Sonja Ogrizovich, left, and Joanne Tica Steiger, far right, hosted siblings Gary Wuchenich and Danielle Wuchenich to learn more about the foundation.  Thanks to The John and Mildred Medic Wuchenich Foundation for supporting our mission in Serbia.

His Royal Highness Charles Prince of Wales was received at the Royal Palace for tea by Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander, Crown Princess Katherine, and Hereditary Prince Peter.  Prince Charles took a short tour of the Royal and White Palaces where he had the opportunity to see the exhibition “Two Royal Families – Historical Ties” about the relations between the British Royal Family and the Serbian Royal Family.
Editor's Note
As part of Lifeline's expansion and growth, we are excited to officially launch our monthly e-newsletter. Our focus is to share stories with you about the people and places that support Lifeline's mission.  Our goal is to help improve the quality of life for the most vulnerable, underserved populations of Serbia.  We will share some of their stories with you, too.

The board members are often asked “how can I help?” You can help by sharing our newsletters with your personal and business networks, supporting Lifeline’s events, following us on social media and contributing time, talent, or treasure to our cause.  If you’ve got some ideas on how we can improve, we’d love to hear them.  If you and your group are interested in adopting a project, send us an email.  We’ve got lots of projects waiting for a sponsor!

We are excited about our plans for 2016 and beyond and we hope that you will be a part of them. We look forward to staying connected to you through your growing engagement with our organization.

During remarks made in recognition of International Women's Day 2016, Her Royal Highness Princess Katherine expressed her admiration for the courage and perseverance of the women of Serbia as "they continue the  fight for the preservation of our families, and for a better and happier future for our children and our country". The Princess also shared her gratitude and pride in the wonderful work that the Lifeline Humanitarian Organization does and how its efforts make a difference in Serbia.
On March 24, Associate Board Members and sisters Danielle Krstich Frank and Lana Krstich Manikowski hosted a Jimmy Choo fundraiser at the Nordstrom store on Michigan Avenue in Chicago. Jimmy Choo designated 10% of all sales made at the event for the Lifeline Humanitarian Organization. Thank you, Lana and Danielle, for hosting this exciting event.
Deepest thanks are extended to the sisters of the Three Kolos at St  Archangel Michael (Lansing, IL) and St. George (Joliet, IL) churches. Through their generous fundraising efforts, Lifeline purchased a new boiler system and a new computer station for the mother's home at Zvecanska Dispensary and Maternity Home in Belgrade. The directors have committed to teach basic computer training so that the mothers can learn to job search and find housing for their families.
