Artworks Gallery Presents

Jazz and Blues, Owens Daniels Photography
“Spring to Life” all members exhibition

Exhibition Dates: April 1 - 30, 2022

Open for Gallery Hop: April 1, 7 - 10 pm

Reception: Sunday, April 3, 2 - 4pm

Owens Daniels’ work puts the viewer in the moment to experience the rhythm, time and movement of Jazz and the sadness, confusion, heartbreak, fear and bliss of the Blues.

Daniels has spent the past few summers capturing the magic of the Winston-Salem downtown music scene. He has photographed guitar, bass, keyboard and drummers performing on the streets of Winston for crowds of people who were cool, laid back, dancers and lovers.

Daniels is a photographer and visual artist based in Winston Salem, NC. He was awarded the 2021 Kenan Institute Creative Catalysis Fellowship at Reynolda House of American Art and 2019 Lead Artist for the Presence Absence Project.

His photographic career started at the U.S Army Photographic School of Cartography, learning the basics of photography and photo printing. In addition to his formal training, he continues to work as a freelance photographer with a distinctive and intimate photojournalistic signature style in visual storytelling which has led to various opportunities that include: Artist in Residences, Fellowship of American Art, Public Art Installations, Grants and varied other commissions.

This collection of portraits of musicians speak to people through the simple fact it’s all about the Music Baby! Come out and experience Owens Daniels’ visual interpretation of Jazz and Blues.

Art brightens our lives with something beautiful or thoughtful, calming or stimulating, vibrant or soothing. Artwork’s "Spring to Life” group exhibition celebrates the emergence of a new season with fresh art. The show incorporates a wide array of mediums: painting, printmaking, photography, drawing, and sculpture. Our members look forward to sharing their creativity with you.

The exhibit is free and open to the public.
