There was a broken link in our earlier email, our applologies! Here's the correct version with a fixed link to the Rochester Toy Library. Enjoy!

Dear <<First Name>>,

Patience, perseverance, and passion were key ingredients to developing and sustaining the Rochester’s Toy Library over its past 34 years. Taking one step at a time, it began as a successful Junior League volunteer-based project. It continued to evolve and is now integrated as part of Rochester Public Library.

As the founder of Rochester’s Toy Library, I’m gratified everyday by its continued success. Now, I’m just as passionate about creating a Toy Library on the Cape!

As I reflect on these two endeavors, I’m reminded of the parallel process of being a young parent in the 1980’s when Rochester’s Toy Library was created and now celebrate being a new grandparent as the Cape Cod Toy Library is emerging.  Experiencing the excitement of a newborn and her development is a reminder of all that young children need to grow and thrive.

The establishment of Cape Cod Toy Library will help bridge the needs of both parents and grandparents as well as child care providers. As our daughter’s labor was a very long experience, it drew us into focused attention and continued prayerful thoughts for a successful delivery of a healthy baby. And as I’ve reflected on this, it’s reminded me of lessons learned and parallels to trusting the birth process.

Lesson No. 1. Patience
Giving the process the time and space needed for a successful birth of any project is the first step… including the start- up of Cape Cod Toy Library!

Lesson No. 2. Perseverance
When the value of the purpose is clear, there is a devotion to achieving the goal – however, long it takes!

Lesson No. 3. Passion
Enthusiastic commitment and belief in the vision makes it all possible.

While the start-up of Cape Cod Toy Library may be slower than hoped, step-by-step we are making progress!  Cape Cod Toy Library is now Cape Cod Toy Library, Inc. – now incorporated as a 501(c)(3).  We await our tax-exempt status. Just knowing the benefits to come for Cape children and families, every step is full of joy!

I'm also excited to share that I’ll be presenting at the national conference of The Association for the Study of Play (TASP). This year’s conference “Playful Communities” will at The Strong National Museum of Play, April 5 – 8 in Rochester, NY.  If you’re able to attend the conference and explore The Strong Museum, you can also look forward to visiting Rochester’s Toy Library. Please let me know if you’re coming so I can coordinate tours and meetings with other “play” advocates.
Next Step – Help us spread the word!  We want everyone to know what having a toy library would mean for the Cape.

We’re eager to hear potential users’ interests and needs, and answer any questions.  Informal talks or formal presentations can be customized for each group and scheduled for a duration of 15 – 60 minutes. Collaborative planning is welcome.

Please let us know of any group you think might be interested in learning about Cape Cod Toy Library and/or locations you’d recommend for hosting a group. Currently available dates are: April 12 – 19, May 17 – 26, or June 12 – 21.

We look forward to your ideas for developing Cape Cod Toy Library and to meeting parents, grandparents, foster parents, childcare providers, educators and early intervention practitioners across the Cape.
