The PA Veteran Farming Project, in partnership with the PA Friends of Agriculture Foundation, has been awarded a 3-year grant which will allow us to continue building our home-grown network of mentors, host one statewide and 5 regional conferences each year, and support connecting eligible veterans to VA OJT apprenticeships through the Troops to Tractors program.
In a competitive, nationwide process, 33 grants were awarded to projects focusing on underserved/beginning farmers; 17 grants were awarded to serve veterans and our was 1 of only 2 projects funded in PA. Thank you to the Advisory board, agricultural and community partners, and PA Friends of Ag.

Have K-12 kids and interested in working on a school garden?Annie’s Grants for Gardens are for K-12 school gardens to help children start thinking more holistically about their food, their communities, and the planet. New applicants may apply for grants of $3,000. Public, charter, and private schools, school districts and nonprofit organizations are eligible to apply. Apply by November 1, 2019.
The Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) Program is open for grant applications with proposals due 5 p.m. ET on Tuesday, December 3, 2019. Farmer Grants provide research funds for commercial farms to explore new ideas in almost any aspect of production, marketing and other topics that influence successful farming in the region. Home Depot Foundation Community Impact Grants offers grant awards up to $5,000 to 501c designated organizations (recognized and in good standing with the IRS for a minimum of one year) using volunteers to improve the community. Grants are given in the form of The Home Depot gift cards for the purchase of tools, materials, or services and are required to be completed within six months of approval date. The deadline to apply, December 31, 2019.
American Farmland Trust and Chobani yogurt just announced $10K microgrants and resources available for family dairy farms. You must sign up to receive details as they are released, such as grant application deadlines.

The PA Veteran Farming Project thanks Pittsburgh DAV Chapter 8 for their support of our Project efforts. We serve VA eligible active duty, veterans, Guard and Reserve, and their spouses. There is no charge for our services to eligible individuals.
