New Funding Opportunities

The Very Small Meat-Processor Grant Program-- funding to reimburse a portion of inspection and certification requirements for very small meat processors.  Up to $50,000 grants  to pay for up to 50% of the cost of a first-time purchase of equipment, cost of technical assistance or advice from a food safety specialist to develop your plan. More info.  Apply at through September 30, 2019.

PA's Urban Agriculture Infrastructure  Grant Program (UAI) is a reimbursement grant for those seeking to improve urban agriculture infrastructure in Pennsylvania.  Two options:  -Microgrants: Maximum grant $2,500, not to exceed 50% of project costs.
-Collaboration  grants:  Partner projects; maximum grant amount of $50,000, not to exceed 50% of project costs.


Small Business Advantage Grants50% matching grants up to a maximum of $7,000 for pollution prevention measures, install energy efficiency equipment, or implement natural resource protecon projects.

-Must be a Pennsylvania-based, registered, for-profit small business with 100 or fewer FTE employees
-For energy efficiency and pollution prevention projects saving the small business a minimum of $500.00 and at least 25% annually in energy consumption or pollution related expenses.
-Natural resource protection projects must quantify the reduction of nitrogen, phosphorus and sediment loadings reaching the receiving waterway.
-First come, first served--$1M in funding is on the table.


You've got to have a realistic business plan: SBA has a walk-through online tool to build one. You create a login so you can work on it at your own pace, download as a pdf, and go back later to modify it as your situation or needs change. 
The PA Veteran Farming Project thanks Pittsburgh DAV Chapter 8 for their support of our Project efforts.  We serve VA eligible active duty, veterans, Guard and Reserve, and their spouses. There is no charge for our services to eligible individuals.
