RAEDI Annual Meeting Recap

More than 300 RAEDI investors, board members, and business leaders attended the RAEDI Annual Meeting on February 25th at the Rochester International Event Center. Keynote speaker, David Ollila, inspired the audience with his life story of entrepreneurship and innovation, including 100K Ideas and the Ferris Wheel Building in Flint, Michigan.

John Wade, 2020 RAEDI Chair, gave a recap of the 2019 year and thanked past chair, Mary Blair-Hoeft, for  serving as chair in 2018 & 2019 during the transition of new leadership at RAEDI with the hiring of Ryan Nolander.  
Meeting with the Entrepreneurial Community

Ryan Nolander and Xavier Frigola, from RAEDI, gave Mr. Ollila a tour of the Mayo Clinic Business Accelerator, Collider Coworking, and One Discovery Square before the annual meeting to introduce him to the Rochester area's entrepreneurial ecosystem.

During the tours, Mr. Ollila was a guest on the Rochester Rising Podcast with Amanda Leightner, which will be available at on Wednesday, March 4th.

Following the RAEDI Annual Meeting, a group of individuals representing entrepreneurial organizations across southeast Minnesota gathered with Mr. Ollila to discuss challenges and opportunities for entrepreneurs in our region.

More RAEDI Highlights from 2019 
WE Forum (Women Entrepreneurs)

The February WE Forum was held on Thursday, February 16th at St. Mary's University Rochester. Three local women discussed the unique opportunities and challenges of starting a business in this medically focused community of Rochester. The panelists discussed the challenges and opportunities centered around the patient experience and the needs of this ever growing customer base. 

Panelists included Traci Downs, Co-Founder of Cafe Steam and Collider Coworking, Laura Elwood, President of Chamberlain Concierge and Lifestyle Management, and Jamie Rothe, Director of Community Engagement & Experience at Destination Medical Center

The next panel discussion will take place on Thursday, March 19th. The topic is "Investing in Your Business - When to Spend Money in the Early Stages."  All WE Events will take place at St. Mary's University Campus Rochester from 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. There is no fee to attend but registration is required through Eventbrite. Mayo Clinic Business Accelerator 
The Mayo Clinic Business Accelerator, located in the Minnesota BioBusiness Center and operated by RAEDI since 2013, currently has office and desk space available for rent. The space is available for new companies, entrepreneurs, and venture firms.

The Accelerator includes 24-hour electronic key access, high speed internet, use of the executive board conference room, whiteboard and tackable walls, mobile flat screen tv, VGA/HDMI laptop connections, conference phone, seating for informal collaboration, paid utilities, and professional cleaning.
