February 2017 Volunteer Newsletter
Como Park Falcon Heights Living at Home Block Nurse Program
Our Mission: We are a non-profit serving our neighbors aged 65 years and better, by organizing supportive services, respite for caregivers and the compassion of volunteers.
It takes a person of great heart to see the wisdom the elders have to offer, and so serve them out of gratitude for the life they have passed on to us.

Happy Valentine's Day! If you share a special treat or card with your senior, please send me a picture or note about it. If you aren't able to visit on February 14th, a phone call can let them know how special they are to you. For seniors who have lost a spouse, it can be a lonely day and a friendly "hello" means so much.
"Patient"   "A wonderful listener"  "A cherished friend"  "Delightful"  "Considerate"  "Invaluable to me"
These are the words our seniors have used in past month to describe YOU!
Your time is valuable and limited but you chose to use it to make a difference to someone who really does appreciate you. Research on senior health shows that staying connected means staying healthier (lower blood pressure) and happier (less depression).
Homemaking Services
If your senior has been told by their doctor to limit household tasks, like vacuuming, or would simply like to have someone help around the house, please let them know we have Homemakers that can come to the house for $25 per hour. It can be for a one time "Spring Cleaning" or an on-going service.
Foot Care
Maria, our RN, offers in-home foot care for $35. If your senior would like in-home nail trimmings and is not diabetic, this is a wonderful service and saves a trip to the doctor's office.
Our Mission: We are a non-profit serving neighbors aged 65 years and better, by organizing supportive services, respite for caregivers, and the compassion you, our volunteers.
