Puget Sound Sisters in Crime      June 2020
President's Message

When I took on the job of president, I knew there would be some challenges. There always are. But I was confident that with the combined minds and hearts of our vice president Charlotte Stuart and treasurer Curt Colbert that we could handle anything thrown our way. I must admit, I never anticipated we’d have to deal with a pandemic!

As we continue to hold virtual meetings, we all miss the pleasure of getting to meet new people and visiting with old friends—which was why we came up with the idea of our ‘summer social’ to replace our usual picnic in July. (See below for details.)

Pandemics cause things to change—and rightfully so. We must be responsive to the new world we find ourselves living in. That means programs have changed and may continue to do so. But the executive committee remains committed to promoting the ongoing advancement, recognition and professional development of ‘sister’ and ‘mister’ crime writers. (Please see below for what’s in store for future programs.)

We’ve also been working on updating our website which should be going live before our next meeting. In updating the website, we realized that we didn’t really need to publish a separate newsletter since everything you see in the newsletter lives on the website in perpetuity.

Therefore, this will be the last month you’ll be receiving an emailed newsletter. Starting in July, we will send out a short note when the website has been updated and a link to take you to our homepage, where you’ll find the same information you’ve been used to receiving.

See you online on June 11 for our monthly meeting (Zoom meeting information below).

Have a safe, healthy, and productive month.

July Zoom Program: Virtual  Ice Cream Social

We will be unable to hold our annual July picnic because of coronavirus risks. We do not, however, want to miss out on the chance to get to know each other better. Please attend our virtual Ice Cream Social the evening of July 9th at 7:00. Bring your own ice cream, frozen yogurt, or dessert of your choice which you can share with us ‘on camera’ to delight our eyes and virtual taste buds.
During the Social each participant will have approximately five minutes to give an update on what you are working on or anything else you would like to share about what you’ve been up to.
Hope you will join us!
