CHEERS! SHABBY CHIC IS NOW
THREE YEARS IN BUSINESS!
Shabby Chic Creative Studios and Boutique was established April, 2014 as Country Shabby Chic. Our first location was located on the off skirts of downtown Frederick MD on Court Street. Country Shabby Chic was first mainly furniture and house decor items.
WHY DID I OPEN SHABBY CHIC?
My style and fashion sense can be directly attributed to my mother. A teacher with a love of fashion, she instilled her bold sense of style and passion for finding the best bargains
into me at a young age.
After attending college I worked for Nordstrom and was able to grow and get promotion as the Personal Stylist Regional Manager for 27 stores in the Northeast and Capital Region, building a successful career in the fashion industry as I worked for them for 6 years. When my mother was diagnosed with cancer in 2011, I decided I wanted to do something that allowed me to be with my mother during her treatment and recovery. One of the biggest reason why I had a calling to open a store is because my mother had opened her first store selling home décor at the age of 28. I wanted to follow in my mother’s footsteps and so I did, I opened Country Shabby Chic, focusing on furniture that I refinished by hand and other home goods. I also added classes to the schedule, teaching others to do simple home DIY projects found on Pinterest. The classes quickly became the most popular part of the business and continue today. They have expanded into corporate events, bridal parties and birthday parties for all ages.
In December 2014, during Christmas season I added a small line of clothing to Country Shabby Chic’s offerings. It did so well that I began adding more clothing to the inventory. When the opportunity to move to a new location on Patrick Street opened up, I knew it was time to make the switch to becoming a clothing boutique and studio. Dropping the name “Country,” in October 2015, Christina opened Shabby Chic Boutique and Creative Studios.
We now have been in our new location for almost a year and half at 9 W Patrick Street. Our new location and expansion on clothing has been a game changer for Shabby Chic Creative Stuidos and Boutique ! Going back to my roots from Nordstrom, I knew I wanted to created a environment that we can service our customers from head to toe and give them a personal stylist service. I had learned a great deal from Nordstrom through all the experiences I had and was going to take everything that I have learned to create a similar Customer Service Friendly Brand to give to our Shabby Chic customers in Downtown Frederick MD during shopping and creating art homed decor in our studio. Shabby Chic is a one stop shop to style you from head to toe and style your house with conversational home decoration DIY projects!
