AGR now offers 1-day on-site Pharmaceutical Breakage Seminar
A 1-Day seminar entitled “The How’s and Why’s of Pharmaceutical Breakage” is now being offered. The purpose is to introduce attendees to the analysis of breakage and provide an understanding of:
  • How and Why breakage occurs
  • How to distinguish the various types of breakage
  • How defects are created and Why they affect glass strength
  • How loads during processing and handling can lead to breakage
The seminar can be held at the customer preferred on-site location or could be held at the Training Center on the AGR campus in Butler, PA, USA.  If desired the seminar can be expanded and customized to meet the unique needs of the customer.

The seminar will also cover these Topics:
  • Pharmaceutical manufacturing techniques
  • Fracture analysis procedures and techniques
  • Review of some common breakage types
  • Discussion of Defects and sources
  • Actions to take when there is a problem

AGR ON THE ROAD          

AGR’s Dr. Wenke Hu will be addressing the Deco conference in Columbus, Ohio on April 7th, 2018.  He will be speaking on the “Do’s and Don’ts of Lightweighting” glass containers.  He will emphasize the impact of aesthetic appearance and decorations on potential weight reduction. 

Dr. Hu is the head of AGR’s Design Development, Evaluation and Lightweighting team.

AGR Director of Research, Bill Slusser, returned to his Alma Mater, Alfred University (where he earned his BS in Ceramic Science Engineering) to speak to current undergrad engineering students about American Glass Research, his path to his current position and how smaller firms can provide interesting job opportunities for engineers.

Did you know... porcupines have an appetite for glass bottles? 

AGR founder Dr. Frank Preston discovered this in 1947 and published a short piece on it in the ‘Journal of Mammalogy’ in February of 1948. “Perhaps the animal likes alkali; he is said to be very fond of salt of more kinds than one.”

AGR has finalized the second half Seminar Training Schedule and open enrollment is now available.  The Schedule gets underway at a new location in Ammersee, Germany just outside of Munich in September.

The "Fracture 3: Glass Fracture Diagnostician Certification" Seminar will be offered twice, first October 2–5 in Krakow, Poland  and then December 4-7 on the Butler, PA, USA campus.  Click HERE to learn more about our F3 Seminar or to register, note however, this seminar requires the completion of AGR’s Basic F1 and Advanced F2 seminars.
