Small Business Recovery Center
The U.S. Small Business Administration has opened a Small Business Recovery Center to provide help with applying for low-interest loans for businesses and individuals affected by the hurricane. The center is located at the Chloe Coney Urban Enterprise Center (1907 E Hillsborough Ave). Residents in Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Hardee, Hillsborough, Lee, Manatee, Orange, Osceola, Pinellas, Polk, Sarasota and Seminole counties are eligible to apply for physical damage as well as economic damage. Solid Waste Department Collection Updates
Post-Hurricane Ian, City of Tampa solid waste services and operations resumed regularly scheduled collection today (Monday, Oct 3). See details for the resumption of all other Tampa Solid Waste services after Hurricane Ian, such as SWEEP, storm-related yard waste, and more.
Virtual Inspections
Always on the lookout for opportunities to improve its community-centric services, the City of Tampa's Construction Services division is excited to now offer virtual inspections for select projects. Instead of scheduling an on-site visit with a city inspector, contractors and homeowners can accelerate the process by choosing to do a virtual inspection. Virtual Inspections by Affidavit are now offered for AC change-outs, door and window replacements, electric for AC change-outs, electric for water heater replacement (no tankless), garage door replacements, reclaimed irrigation, water heater replacement (no tankless, no gas), re-roof final, residential solar PV – rooftop, and sewer and water service replacements.

The Solid Waste team is hiring a WTE Plant Mechanic I to perform technical work involving mechanical maintenance and repair activities for a Waste to Energy facility. Graduation from an accredited high school or vocational school with two (2) years’ experience in the maintenance and repair of industrial mechanical equipment, such as pumps, motors, conveyors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems, is required.
