Synapse: National Brain Injury Support Organization

May is finally here, bringing showers and flowers. Synapse chapters are working hard to serve the brain injury community whether there is rain or shine. Read below about some of the ways that our established chapters spent their time hosting events to bring together the community or volunteering.

An Afternoon of Painting with MIT BrainTrust
Synapse's oldest chapter, MIT BrainTrust, was founded in 1998 by a graduate student who sustained a brain injury. Since then, MIT BrainTrust has blossomed into a robust resource for those with brain injury, focusing on hosting fun social events to bring to the community. This past month, MIT BrainTrust arranged a weekend of painting at a local studio, where an artist taught participants how to make vibrant cityscapes.
Walk, Run, and Roll for Thought 5K with Synapse at the University of Washington
Members of Synapse at the University of Washington volunteered at the Brain Injury Alliance's Walk, Run, Roll for Thought 5K to help raise money for brain injury. Members cheered on participants, helped serve water, and walked.
