From Student Volunteer at SC Conference to Pursuing a Ph.D.: Ather Sharif Shares his Perspective
When Ather Sharif begins his Ph.D. work at the University of Washington in September, he can look back at his experience as a Student Volunteer at the SC13 and SC15 conferences as one of the drivers convincing him to enter the program.
“It’s a great experience, and a way for me, as a quadriplegic, to feel more involved in the community,” Sharif said. “It’s important to have a lot of diversity, which goes both ways. For those who aren’t disabled, they can get more perspectives and broaden their horizons.”

Bring SC16 to Your Exhibitor Booth!
The Students@SC program will be hosting the Scavenger Hunt at this year's conference and exhibitors are invited to participate by signing up as a destination for the event. This is a good way to engage participants and inform them about your organization. The hundreds of scavenger hunt participants are challenged to find booths based on clues provided and the winners will be awarded prizes.
We are seeking exhibitors to participate in this activity in two ways:
- Be a destination in the scavenger hunt, and/or
- Sponsor a prize for the scavenger hunt winners.
Contact: Sally Ellingson at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The deadline for submitting clues is Friday, September 2, 2016. We look forward to hearing from you!
