Ten teens from Telluride, Norwood, Naturita, Nucla and Bedrock participated in a six-day trip with Deer Hill Expeditions. This trip included five days on the upper San Juan River in southwest Colorado and Utah, and was self-supported, meaning that students cooked all their own meals, set up their tents, and even managed the ‘groover.’ To quote one student, "It was the most fun I've ever had!".
BACK TO SCHOOL:
True North will be working in-person in Telluride, Norwood and Nucla high schools this year. We provide academic support, college and career readiness and opportunities to sign up for our community service and after-school activities. To view the times we will be in each school, please Click Here
Our community has suffered a tragic loss. Our staff and students will deeply miss Finn as a part of the Telluride community and spending time together at after-school Base Camp. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and all those who knew him. Please remember that True North staff and volunteers are available to talk with teens and we are here to help support students and families. Please visit the Mental Health Resources page on our website for more information along with helpful numbers and resources.

Three True North students received scholarships from Telluride Academy to attend their two-week Outdoor Leadership Camp. True North supported these students in purchasing and borrowing gear, arranging transportation and getting them prepared for an extensive wilderness excursion! The trip included: backpacking, service work on the fens in Prospect Basin with Telluride Institute, a stay at Fozzie's Farm (an education center that is part of the Montezuma Land Conservancy), paddle boarding and a rafting trip on the San Juan River. Thank you Telluride Academy!

The 4th Annual Teen Summer Jobs Fair helped 22 students find employment, and over 75 students were provided with workshop materials detailing: job etiquette, mock interviews and resume writing. Thank you, Alpine Bank, for sponsoring the Jobs Fair and thank you to the many volunteers and Wilkinson Public Library who helped make this year such a success.

We would like to commemorate Jerry Greene for all he has done for the Telluride community and for True North as a longtime donor. His philanthropic spirit and civic-mindedness will forever remain part of our history. He generously included True North in his wishes and we would like to thank him and his family for their contributions to True North.
