Horsebox Bread Oven

Kneading Conference 2019

In July, I headed off to what seemed the middle of nowhere to the Kneading Conference in Maine, USA. I volunteered to help out and in return I got to attend conference sessions.

The sessions were very varied, from building a bread oven, to making dumplings, to sourdough tips from two lovely young women. It was hard work, hot but very inspiring! I was very taken by a mobile bread oven in a horsebox. I'd love to tour round teaching in the Cotswold with one!

Anyone can volunteer to help at the conference.

One particularly inspiring thread was the heritage grains that are now being grown in Maine many of which are milled in the Skowhegan Mill.
This surely is one of the most modern and and pretty mills I've seen!
