Announcement of the
2017 Rafto Prize
Time: 28 September at 10.00 AM (CEST)


Who will be awarded the 2017 Rafto Prize? Press conference at the Rafto House in Bergen. The announcement will be broadcasted on rafto.no and in social media: @RaftoFoundation #rafto17 
The 2017 Rafto Conference
Time: 4 November at 11:00-14:30 
Venue: Universitetsaulaen, Bergen

Public conference with topics related to the 2017 prize. Free entrance. Event registration at rafto.no, opens shortly after the announcement on

The Rafto Prize Award Ceremony 
Time: 5 November at 18:00 
Venue: Den Nationale Scene, Bergen 

A Ceremony that will feature honoring of the 2017 Rafto Laureate, as well as artistic performances with local and national artists. Torchlight procession shortly after the ceremony.  

The Rafto Foundation is a non-profit and non-partisan organisation dedicated to the global promotion of human rights. The main activities are: the annual Rafto Prize, long-term support to laureates and human rights and democracy education.

The Rafto Prize:
The foundation has since 1987 annually awarded the Rafto Prize to advocates of human rights and democracy. In 2016 Yanar Mohammed received the prize for her work for women's rights in war torn Iraq.
