This and That

We've got a little bit of everything in this email, classes, events, news, yarn goodness, festival planning and more!  I know it's still summer, but fall is slowly approaching and with that comes festivals, more classes and new yarns!  We have received our shipment of fall yarns from Plymouth Yarn, and you will notice that texture is the unifying theme this year!  There is the Arequipa line of yarns, Worsted, Fur and Aventura, as well as the Plymouth Select Textura.  More fall yarns will be rolling in soon, so keep an eye on the website or any of our various social media channels.

We just put a poll up on Ravelry to gather some information about a possible day trip to Rhinebeck this October, to attend the NY State Sheep and Wool Festival.  We would be interested in feedback from you about whether or not you might be interested in going and if so, what mode of transportation (somewhat dependent on attendance) would you be interested in.  You can follow the above link, or email us about your interest.

I also started another topic on Ravelry about Madelinetosh yarn.  As many of you may already know, we recently received our first shipment of Madelinetosh yarn and it is selling fast!  I am going to be putting in another order in the next week or two and I wanted to find out if anyone has any requests or special orders that they would like me to add to the order.  Re-orders take somewhere between 10-14 weeks to arrive, so that means that the yarn won't be arriving until October/November.  The good news is that each order is dyed to order, so if there is a particular colorway that you have been looking for, we will be able to get it for you, you’ll just have to be patient for it’s arrival! Here is a link to their Colorways for your perusal. You can reply to the Ravelry thread with requests/special orders (let me know if it is a request or special order - special orders we will specifically set aside for you when they arrive), or PM me on Ravelry, or send me an email.

I have listed a new class, which you will see below, it is an Intro to Dyeing Class with Master Dyer Amy Rooney of Vivid Fiber Arts.  This is the only new class listed at this time, but we have some knitting and crochet classes in the works for late summer/early fall, stay tuned!  Also if you have suggestions for classes that you would like to see us offer, or teachers you would like us to bring in, please let us know!

I think that covers most of the questions that I have for you, so let's get on with some of the other fun news and events!

In case you missed it, News Channel 5, WPTZ's Abby Isaacs filmed part of a recent story here at the shop.  The story is about Linda Krag, owner of Denise Needles and part of the Cast Off Chemo Charity, and her brother-in-law, Dr. David Krag, an internationally renown researcher at UVM, who is making great strides in cancer research.  We're glad that we can support such wonderful research by offering products for sale for which the proceeds go directly to the research!  Since the story aired on Wednesday evening, we have already received donations from viewers!  Please contact us if you are interested in any of the products that we have for sale, or if you would like to make a donation.  You can visit the Cast Off Chemo website for more information.  Watch the WPTZ story here!
We would like to send a very warm thank you to Paula of Love.Yarn.Shop. knitting store in New Hampshire.  Paula is the organizer behind the recent Great Northern Yarn Haul, a yarn crawl that stretched from the shores of Lake Champlain to the shores of the Atlantic Ocean!  There were 16 shops that participated this year (the first year) and I hear that there are more that are interested in participating next year!  We had over 30 "Haulers" visit our shop in the 10 day period and we had such a wonderful time meeting each and every one of you!  We were generously given 4 skeins of yarn by Knitting Fever, a vendor that supplies us with wonderful yarns like Ella Rae, Noro, Debbie Bliss and many more.  I will be drawing four names from the list of people who checked in at our shop during the yarn haul and sending each of those four lucky people a skein of yarn, another little bonus "thank you" for participating!  So for all of you who came to our store, keep an eye on your email, I will email the randomly drawn winners to notify you and get shipping addresses if you aren't local!
Happy Knitting!
