• We highly recommend Never Dark Generator if you are considering installing a whole house generator.  Having experienced the eye of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and running our diesel generator there for 9 months we are particular about our generators. Never Dark provided superior service from beginning to end. Never Dark are generator specialists - that’s all they do. Even the county inspector praised them - during both visits.  The first consultation was clear, succinct, no pressure. The representative described all options available and the pricing was clear.  Everything is included in the pricing - county permit and inspection coordination as well as coordination with Amerigas . There were no hidden fees. The office staff was courteous and helpful throughout the process. The install crew was professional, polite and obviously very skilled at what they do. They were neat and clean with the install and walked us through the entire process. A great experience.  https://neverdarkgenerators.com. Toll Free: 877-638-3275 or 434-975-3275. If you have questions please feel free to contact me, Beth Frasher/Bart Patel at 603-455-8415 or bethfrasher@yahoo.com

A Haunting Good Reason to Give Back to Your Community!
Get those angel wings or that vampire cape ready! The Nelson County Community Fund’s Opportunity (Costume) Ball is happening just in time for haunting season. The ball will be held in the big red barn at Valley Road Vineyards on Rt. 151, Friday, October 25, 2019, from 6-10:30 p.m. Boogie to the music of British rock cover band Abbey Road, while enjoying a wine and buffet dinner. But wait—there’s more—live and silent auctions for fabulous trips, gift baskets, and one-of-a-kind artworks and jewelry. For details and to purchase tickets, visit www.nelsonfund.org.

If you cannot make the ball or a cruise, please consider making a donation to the nonprofit, all-volunteer Nelson County Community Fund. Your contribution will go a long way toward the grants we make to support nonprofits serving Nelson County residents.

The Nelson County Community Fund (NCCF) is the only community-based, tax-deductible fund that makes grants available to diverse non-profits serving educational and humanitarian needs in Nelson County. Visit www.nelsonfund.org to find out more about us and how you can help.

The annual hawk migration season in the Blue Ridge Mountains is starting now. Rockfish Gap is known to have a "kettle" with hundreds of hawks in the sky. Next Saturday morning, September 14, The Nature Foundation of Wintergreen brings Virginia Tech Avian Ecologist Dr. Ashley Peele to Rockfish Gap for a discussion on the identification of hawks in flight. Register here.

Duos Do Dinner- Save the Date because Rockfish Nights is just two months away on Saturday, November 9, and we are looking for volunteers!  This year, our fall fundraising gala will build on the astronomical, gastronomical success of last year’s “Men Who Cook” event. This year, it’s “Duos Do Dinner!”
Maybe you do the entrée and she does dessert.  Maybe you make a killer stew and he bakes the perfect bread to go with it.  Maybe the two of you love to collaborate over a cutting board.  We welcome all the dynamic dinner duos out there to come show off their favorite meals! Last year, we invited 15 chefs to prepare a small number of servings, and the result was the most delicious variety of food we’ve ever offered to our community.  This year, we hope to welcome 15-20 culinary combos to do the same!

Please contact us at rockfishcc@gmail.com if you would like to participate.  RVCC can make a contribution toward your ingredients—please get in touch and we’ll be happy to go over the details with you!

Both Wintergreen valley and mountain homeowners should note that water conservation measures are called for now, including reducing or stopping all outside water use. Details here.

For every two dollars donated to Wintergreen Adaptive Sports now until November 11, the Donovan Foundation is contributing an additional dollar.  Learn more here about this fundraising effort for this proven program at Wintergreen or donate online by going HERE.
