Recommendations
• I highly recommend Alex Hicks for yard work. Alex worked for us the past two summers hauling mulch, planting flowers and shrubs, and weeding. He is graduating from university in May and he begins a graduate program at University of Virginia on June 4. He lives in Afton and will have Friday through Sunday available for work. Call him at 434-987-3489. Submitted by Janie Friedlein

• I recommend Warner Insurance Agency. Joe Warner and his wife Sarah have recently moved into Stoney Creek. We have been with Joe Warner for 20 years and he has been wonderful with all our insurance needs. Their office is in Staunton. Call them at 540-885-1950. Submitted by Linda Camp
• A fun and easy way to enjoy the outdoors is to explore The Fishing Ponds of Wintergreen. The Wintergreen Sporting Club makes it easy with detailed maps, directions, and descriptions of the fishing ponds in Stoney Creek. I recommend checking it out HERE. (No fishing pole required.) Announcements
• Last fall Claudia Gibson unexpectedly retired and closed her popular catering and luncheon operation in the large kitchen at the Rockfish Valley Community Center. RVCC now plans "to broaden the impact this space could have in our community by expanding the number and types of culinary activities it could support."

Volunteers are already doing extensive work on the kitchen. The plan is to have it ready by June. The RVCC estimates it needs about $40,000 for the kitchen renovation project and is raising the funds. Now the RVCC needs chefs. Read the details about this new aggressive and innovative program here.

• The Fourth Annual Hoop Dreams basketball tournament at Rockfish Valley Community Center is now registering teams and players. The deadline for team registrations is April 30 for the event on Saturday, May 4th on the RVCC's outdoor court. More details here. Register online HERE.
• It's all set! Browse the 2019 Wintergreen Summer Music Festival concerts, classes, and events by date:
• Week 1-July 8 to 14

• Week 2-July 15 to 21

• Week 3-July 22 to 28

• Week 4-July 29 to August 4

Tip: Cooking class tickets often go fast.
May 4th–There are still a few tickets available for one of the most fun Wintergreen social events of the season. The fastest two minutes in sports with delicious food, and the best mint juleps at Wintergreen, will come together at the Derby Day Party on Saturday afternoon, May 4th at the home of Vicki Sabin in Stoney Creek. Proceeds benefit Wintergreen Music (the new name of Wintergreen Performing Arts). Details and tickets HERE
