Mindfulness for children - book review

I am so happy to be reviewing the fantastic new publication 'Mindfulness for Children', written by our very own Uz Afzal. As you will all know, we are incredibly lucky to have had Ms Afzal teaching mindfulness at Fox for many years.  Now, all her invaluable wisdom is encapsulated in a  handbook for families to 'help your child be calm and content from breakfast till bedtime'. Who doesn't want that?  The book is really accessible, with simple instructions,  reflections and explanations.   Just as with any interaction with Ms Azfal herself, there is no judgement in the book at all - simply a recognition that families lead busy and challenging lives.  The range of 30 practical exercises that are explained means that it is easy to find some to fit into most lifestyles and family routines.   The illustrations are beautiful, mirroring the wonderful values that underpin the book.  We hope to put some up in our displays.

I know that Ms Afzal will be giving a talk about practising mindfulness with children at the Notting Hill Bookshop on Blenheim Crescent on Thursday 17th January and she will also be running the annual parents' workshop at Fox next month.
