FOXFLIX
At Fox Primary School we are very proud of our children and staff when it comes to putting on a show ranging from assemblies, productions to the ever impressive talent shows. Traditionally these have been recorded, edited and produced on DVD. However, this is a complicated, time consuming and an out of date way of distributing digital content.

In an age of Netflix and on-demand streaming services on multi-platforms, we feel that this is the way forward for Fox to distribute such content.

We are considering having all media we produce published online in a secure parent only access service similar to Netflix. Only current parents with children in this school will have access to the videos through this service.
The main advantages of sharing content in this way are:

•    Content can be produced and distributed much faster (potentially as early as the next day);
•    The content is higher quality;
•    It can be watched on multiplatform devices such as phones, tablets and laptops etc

In order to make a viable service we would need to get enough parents to sign up and pay. The annual cost of a subscription would be £15 per year to access all content that the school produces until your child leaves the school. We envisage that each child would have approximately 3 videos per year uploaded – Christmas shows, class assemblies and talent show. In addition, other shows such as jazz workshop, Year 6 leavers and Reception graduation would always be uploaded.

We are seeking the views on this from our parents and carers. Please click here to let us know your thoughts.

Our IT team will attend the next FSA meeting to answer any queries.

Reading Gladiators

Both the Year 2/3 and Year 4/5 Reading Gladiator sessions are taking place next week.

Year 2/3 - Planet Awesome - Tuesday at 3:45 - 4:30

Year 4/5 - The Lost Magic - Monday at 3:45 - 4:30

These sessions are a fantastic opportunity to develop adventurous reading choices, sustained reading for pleasure, purpose and understanding, and engage parents and carers with their children’s reading.

It's not too late to read the book and get involved!

Younger siblings cannot attend the sessions and children must be accompanied by an adult. Each adult can accompany up to 3 children, but please discuss this with each child's parents/carers and the children themselves so they know who is responsible for them.

Update from Mrs Hardisty
Phase B Choir

We are delighted to be trialling a Phase B (years 2 and 3) choir from next week. This will be led initially by both Mrs Hardisty with Miss Griffiths and then Miss Griffiths will take over the running of the choir towards the end of term. Rehearsals will be at lunchtime for 15-20 minutes, after the children have eaten. These will be on a Thursday to begin with. Please let Mrs Hardisty know if would like your child to participate, so that we have a rough idea of numbers before our first rehearsal and we know who to gather up from the playground!

New Fox value of the year - Resilience.
We have four core values at Fox (Collaboration, Caring, Independence and Creativity) which inform all we do. In addition to these, we are going to introduce a 5th ‘value of the year’, which is chosen by the school council and explored in assemblies and time in class. This year the school council have decided the new value will be ‘resilience’, a value that is already taught and encouraged in some year groups and which we hope will be embraced by children throughout the school.

Parent's Handwriting workshop
Thank you to all those who attended the workshop this week. The presentation is now on the school website here

Receptions first Fox trip
It was Reception’s first ever trip and they went to the science museum. Lots of people commented on how sensible the children were and how lovely it was to see them so excited! They  saw the space exhibition and went into an interactive pattern area. The children were very tired at the end of the day but had a fantastic time! They’ve done lots of follow up work including writing and recreating their trip in the creative area.

Ms Madden recommends.....
This week, I'd like to share the fantastic newly published guide for parents' and teachers by EmpathyLab, '30 books to develop empathy for children aged 4-11'.   It is widely recognised that books are a key tool for building empathy.   Reading provides insight into other people's way of life from their own, to their feelings and the experiences and challenges that they face.  There are many of the suggested titles that you may recognise, that we have in school already, or have reviewed of late, and there are many more that we hope to discover over the coming months.

You will find the link here:
