Hello Neighbour

Wow hasn't life changed.  Of course some of the changes are rewarding and life affirming, some  very challenging.  One thing we hope won't change is staying connected as a Network.  See below for details again on how you can keep in touch.

Neighborhood House Week is coming up soon, and we've come up with a new way to celebrate as a network.  Details are below, and we're looking forward to seeing your contributions.

Also below is a link to a new Health and Wellbeing resources page on the NHT website. We're creating a once stop shop of freebies to help you stay well.  If you're feeling down - check this page. Its still needing a lot more info, its been hard to get it full to the degree that we would like it, so send through your contributions.

The Premier is continuing to give daily updates, and we're watching them through the ABC Hobart Facebook page.  You can subscribe to be notified when they go live with these updates.  Visit the page here.

Stay safe everyone, wash those hands (again) and we hope you have a happy and healthy break over easter...

Workplace (by Facebook)Image result for workplace logo png

Workplace is an online social networking tool set up by Facebook, designed specifically for organisational situations.

NHT has set up and invited you to a Workplace group. The aim of this group is to help us communicate about issues of concern, share files and information, and keep our conversations in one place, rather than through emails or our publicly accessible Facebook pages and profiles.

The following link is your invitation to the online Workplace App. Once you click on the link, it will ask you to sign up.  If you already use Workplace, please just sign in. If you are new to Workplace, please sign up. Look for the button to ‘Join’ the group – towards the top right of the page – or check ‘Notifications’ – the little bell on the left panel of the page. Your 'Request to join' will then come back to Jonathan for acceptance before you will be able to actually join the conversations. Once your request has been accepted you will be able to access the group page.

We've already uploaded some good conversations to the group about self-care, and how to talk to kids about the Corona virus.

Neighbourhood House Week - be part of the fun
As we can’t get together this year to celebrate the brilliant work of Neighbourhood Houses, we have come up with two ideas! You can be part of just one or do both for a bit of fun in these strange times.

Option 1 – NHT is looking for a bit of light heartedness to share. We would love to receive your visual response to our current, exceptional situation. It can be a video, some photos, a PowerPoint, a story or poem - something to share with the Network. If you do a video aim for it to be one minute long at the most – keep it short and sweet! Not sure what to do have a look at this or this one.

The contributions will be put on NHT’s social media and/or website during Neighbourhood House Week on Thursday 14th May at 10:30 am. Which is the perfect time to enjoy a Virtual cuppa with the Network

Option 2 – NHT would like to create a time capsule for Houses! So, we are asking you to write a letter to your future House community of 2022. Don’t worry we won’t be reading them!! When the time capsule is opened in two years’ time the letters will be mailed back to you.  So please make sure that you put your return address on the outside of the envelope. The time capsule will be sealed on Thursday 14th May and will be stored at the NHT Hub in plain sight.

Get your creative thinking caps on and send your contributions to Louise at by 1st May 2020. If you have any questions, please contact Louise.

Active Living Grant Reports are now due

Thank you to those who have sent in their report already! The reports are now overdue so please send them as soon as you can to

Governance tips

Steve Bowman from Conscious Governance provided some great
training to the network a couple of years ago.  He has just done an online blog on Strategic Awareness and the five reasons your Not-For-Profit needs it which you might find of interest.

In case you missed it - here are some resources to check in with during these challenging times

There are some new resources available from the Australian Human Rights Commission, focused on increasing awareness around Elder Abuse.  Resources include a Poster and a Bookmark, both available for download from the
NHT website.
