If you aren’t thinking about owning a stock for 10 years, don’t even think about owning it for 10 minutes.” -- Warren Buffett

I hope you’re having a good week 🌞! On my side, I was invited to the opening of the LSE (London Stock Exchange) on Monday by The WealthiHer Network - a partnership of leading financial organisations - co-founded by Tamara Gillan. The breakfast event was hosted by Diane Côté, Chief Risk Officer of the LSE. They have been calling for the number of women-led enterprises completing IPOs to rise from 10% to 33% by 2025!

The LSE is in Paternoster Square in the City. Historically, the beginning of the trading day was marked by a bell or an electronic bell. But the tradition was lost in 1986 with deregulation of the markets and dissolution of the trading floor. But since 2011, LSE launched a new installation with over 500 high definition LED screens making up the three-story installation and you can see market movement and prices displayed throughout the day using real time data. Here is the video I took

In this week’s newsletter, we’ll look at the main money news of the week (Christine Lagarde, mobile banking and house prices), we are interviewing producer Michelle Brondum about what she does and how she manages money, followed by our anonymous money story, book reviews and events.

And what’s more... we are hosting a special Vestpod summer event on Wednesday, July 17th at Huckletree in Shoreditch. We have 3 amazing guests: Bola Sol (personal finance guru and founder of Refined Currency), Carmel Dickinson (Head of events at Boring Money) and Lauren Armes (coach and CEO and founder of Welltodo) and we will talk about “Know your worth: getting paid and negotiating”, followed by a Q&A and then drinks. Get your ticket and join us because this is our last event before the summer holidays! We already have 55 attendees!

I am so happy Tesco magazine included a page about money management and money worries in their July magazine. Tesco magazine is one of the most read magazines in the UK (published by ABC News) with about 1.9 million free copies being distributed per month 😳. I have also been speaking to Sarah Drumm from Courier Magazine about building a personal brand for founders.

Many of you have asked, so… yes, you can now bring Vestpod into your office to lead workshops, present my book or organise money talks to get more women financially empowered and provide value to employees. Reply to this email if you are interested.
Thank you! Have a good day 💓!

Bye bye bank branches. The majority of Brits will have switched to mobile banking in the next couple of years, according to The Guardian. With bricks and mortar branches disappearing at a rate of knots, and major high street banks such as Lloyds undergoing massive restructuring, it’s no surprise that new app-based start-ups like Monzo are taking such a big market share.

Slow house prices growth. All’s quiet on the real estate front again this month. While the cataclysmic crash some have been predicting has yet to materialise, Nationwide reports that annual growth in house prices remains low at 0.5%. June saw a teensy rise of 0.1% across the UK as a whole, but most of this growth was concentrated in the North of England, with London dragging behind.

Christine Lagarde, the 'rock star' of finance, has been nominated as the new head of the European Central Bank, with responsibility for Eurozone financing and advocating for Europe on the global economic stage. The former IMF chief and all-round legend shows no sign of slowing down as she approaches her mid 60s, with the BBC reminding us this week that the former synchronised swimmer even exercises during meetings if she can’t fit it in any other time!
