You can’t wait until you have all the answers before you act.” -- Yvon Chouinard, Let My People Go Surfing 🌟

Hello! I hope you’re having a good week!

I attended the Courier Magazine conference last Friday, which focused on “celebrating modern business and startup culture” in London. I wasn’t speaking but decided to book a ticket to go and listen to what inspiring founders had to share.

It was definitely a good conference to attend - lots of food for thought. It was quite refreshing to hear founders talk about mission and impact over the goal of making money and their aims of building sustainable businesses over the long term rather than compromising on their values for faster growth 🙏. After all, we all want to be in business for 20, 30 years or more and to build a business that matches our needs, values and goals.

📒 I also read this super inspiring book by Yvon Chouinard, the founder of Patagonia: Let my People Go Surfing. I would recommended it to anyone building a business and interested in sustainability. The introduction is by author and activist Naomi Klein who asks: “What if we shopped to live, instead of lived to shop?"⠀

🌿 The book has amazing lessons for entrepreneurs but I also for anyone who is interested in the impact of business on the environment: building company culture, supporting employees and families, producing great products that last and also challenging the culture of consumption and fighting #climatecrisis.⠀

💸 All of which has made us want to write about money and sustainability this week.

🌟 In this week’s newsletter, we’ll look at the main money news of the week, money worries, our anonymous money story, book reviews and events.

Indispensable! I love the fact that it is both contemporary, and UK-oriented. As a non-Brit living in the UK, it helped me get clarity on lots of acronyms, institutions and services. Thank you, Emilie.
