"Marriage still ain't equal, y'all. It ain't equal. I tell women that whole 'you can have it all' — mmm, nope, not at the same time, that's a lie. It's not always enough to lean in because that s*** doesn't work." Michelle Obama, during her book tour in Brooklyn ⚡
Good morning,

Less than 3 weeks until Christmas! In some way this is great news because it means taking a break and wrapping up 2018 (as well as wrapping up our lovely gifts 😜). But at the same time, for me it means: BOOK DEADLINES. I spend most (ALL) my time writing at the moment, and while I enjoy it, it can be pretty stressful working towards deadlines. Hopefully most of the Vestpod book will have been written by Christmas.

If like me you’ve never written a book but are thinking about giving it a go, don’t be fooled by the “10 Ridiculously Simple Tricks for Writing a Book” “How to Write a Book in 2019 (A Step-by-Step Guide for New Writers)” type headlines. There is no magic solution, it’s just about the number of hours you spend on it. But for me it was also becoming a writer. No one is born a writer - it comes with… lots of writing. It’s a muscle that needs to be built over time. I have had to change my mindset to believe that I really could write a book, and I certainly needed some time to digest this shift in the way I saw myself and actually get started. Procrastination of course plays a major role in most long-term projects, which means that unless (or until) you have a hard deadline, the writing doesn’t start flowing.

Well, now I have a hard deadline! So it’s back to work...

"Being independent financially for me means that if I have to be unemployed for any kind of reason, I can still survive. At least for x amount of time. It also means not to owe money on credit cards and/or any other loan providers. I know it is tough but I always had a rule to myself not to borrow money."
