There are numerous studies that demonstrate the benefits of periodic, short-duration fasting, such as weight loss, improved insulin sensitivity and brain function, immune system regeneration, and longevity. I've posted a writeup of my recent experience replicating the "Fasting Mimicking Diet", where I was able to lower my fasting glucose from the low 80's to the mid 40's (mmol/dL) while steadily moving from nutritional ketosis to optimal ketosis. I experienced a slight loss of weight and body fat while maintaining muscle mass (usually fasts have a catabolic effect), and huge rebound effect to testosterone upon refeeding. And such vivid dreaming and mental focus!

Most people think of Quantified Self as being mainly focused on gaining knowledge about one’s body and health, but most of us pay little attention to the environment around us, which can have a bigger impact on our lives than the number of steps we take! Over a series of posts, I will be sharing what I’ve learned about various aspects of my indoor environment (air quality, water, electromagnetic radiation), and steps I’m taking to better optimize my living space:
Part 1: Indoor Air Quality
Part 2: Water Quality
And here's a video of a talk I gave at a recent QS NYC Meetup event on measuring my indoor environment.
End note
That's all for now! Please let me know if you have any comments or suggestions regarding this update (too much? too little?), or if there are any topics you would like to see me cover in the future.
If you haven't already, I'd love for you to connect with me on Twitter, Facebook, or LinkedIn.
