Letter from the "E"
Dear Alumni Brothers and Parents,
I hope this newsletter finds you in good spirits. We have so much going on this semester and there is a lot to update you on what has happened in the past few months. This newsletter differs from ones in the past in that it will be directed at our alumni and the parents of the undergraduate brothers. For those of you who don't know me, I am Rollin LeMand, now a Junior in Unmanned Aircraft Systems Sciences, and I am the "E", or the Alumni Secretary. This is my second term and I have been serving since the beginning of 2016. I will go ahead and let our new (for 2017) president of the Delta Chi Fraternity at Embry-Riddle, Mitch Licht, introduce himself and dive into the state of our beloved chapter.
In order to successfully send out the Alumni Newsletter and frequent updates, please make sure I have your most up-to-date contact information like emails, mailing address, and phone number. You can reach me at the fraternity email, email@example.com
or my cell (407-902-4321
). Please feel free to contact me for comments or suggestions about what you would like to see from me this year.
Rollin LeMand, “E”
Letter from the "A"
Dear Alumni and Parents,
I would like to formally introduce and tell you all a little about myself. My name is Mitchell Licht and I am the Chapter President for 2017 and I was initiated in the bond of Delta Chi in Fall 2014 as part of the Gamma Sigma Associate Member class. I am originally from Boca Raton, FL. I am currently a Junior in Aerospace Engineering and my future plans are to attend graduate school at Embry-Riddle and I would like to work for either NASA or SpaceX following graduation.
The chapter has a lot in-store for the upcoming year. As many of you already know, we have a house that is planned to open in August. We have a lot of work ahead of us to prepare for it. As President, I am well prepared to take on this challenge. Be sure to look out for a date to the house opening in the near future!
Some of my goals as President are to increase participation in all areas of the chapter and to increase communication both internally and externally. However, these goals cannot be accomplished without the entire chapter. To help accomplish these goals, our Alumni Secretary, Rollin LeMand, has added parents to this and future newsletters. This is just a small step to accomplish these goals.
If any of you have any questions, please feel free to email me. I am very attentive to my email and respond within 24 hours. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org.
Undergraduate Brother Interview
Sunny Naik, Aeronautical Science
Sunny after recieving his Instrument Rating.
What is your standing and what is your major?
Junior, Aeronautical Science
What semester did you pledge Delta Chi at Embry-Riddle?
What stood out to you about Delta Chi compared to other clubs and fraternities on campus?
Closeness and stability of the chapter.
When you first joined Delta Chi, what did you want to do to better the fraternity?
Hard to answer. I definitely had interest in the fundraising committee and in the executive board.
What are you doing now to better the fraternity?
Right now I am on the executive board serving as "D" (treasurer), and I am a co-chair for social committee. Serving as co-chair for the social committee, we have pushed for socials with other fraternities and sororities on campus, and we have focused on developing relationships with each organization.
What is your favorite thing to do with brothers on a weekend?
Video games, I play a lot of soccer with the brothers, and on special occasions, some brothers get together to rent planes and go fly with each other.
What is your favorite memory with the fraternity/a brother?
Kyle Criscenzo’s going away dinner for sure. A large group of us rented 3 planes altogether and flew up
to Flagler (KFIN) to have dinner with him..
To those outside of Greek life, how would you describe being a part of it?
Quite the impact on who I am today. I had the opportunity to learn lessons from my experiences with the fraternity that I will carry with me in my career and beyond.
What are your plans for your future?
Plan on becoming an airline pilot for a regional airline, whether it be PSA or Republic. I want to build hours with them, then move from PSA and flow through American or apply for Emirates. Currently, I am in process to join a cadet program with PSA.
What has Delta Chi done for you?
(Gabe with family in San Francisco.)
Delta Chi has challenged me beyond words can describe. It has helped me reach out to many others I would not have met otherwise, some in Greek organizations that have followed and joined. It’s allowed me to develop into the wise and all-knowing brother that always doles out advice like it is water coming out of a fountain. The brothers have pushed me to think and make the right decision, but have been there when I haven’t. And lastly, it’s helped open my eyes to the diversity of the world and how to adapt to new situations and new people.

(Derrick after recieving his Private Pilot's License.)
It has introduced me to a lot of people and responsibility that has made me a better man today.
-Derrick Sanders, Unmanned Aircraft Systems Science, Pledged Fall 2015
Delta Chi has enabled me to get the most out of my time at Embry-Riddle. I have established friends for life. Delta Chi has also pushed me to be the best that I can be, I feel that I am developing better leadership and interpersonal skills through my experience with the fraternity.

For me, Delta Chi has really helped me with my grades. After my freshman year when I decided to change my major, the chamge brought a lot more work and I needed to get help from the brothers. And when I had a rough semester and didn’t have the grades to be active, Delta Chi was a great motivation for me to get my [stuff] together so I could be active again.

Our Current Associate Members, the Gentlemen of Gamma Psi
- Why did you want to join Delta Chi?
- It's a new experience, and an opportunity to learn the new culture and meet new people. The culture is very interesting because it is so diverse and so different from my own.
- What have you enjoyed the most about the pledge process so far?
- Getting to meet all the brothers has been really great. Playing softball, joining a new team of brothers has allowed me to refocus on my classes and rekindle my interest in day to day life at Embry-Riddle.
- Have you made a connection with the brothers?
- So far, I have especially made connections with my pledge brothers, and with the new brothers Ken and Chri, I got to play basketball with them and really connect with them.
