Call for (self)nominations for ASH Valorisation Award

ASH members are invited to submit (self)nominations of highly deserving valorisation projects for the ASH Valorisation Award (250 euros). These valorisation projects should have been delivered between May 2015 and May 2016, and can range from a public lecture, newspaper article, to an exhibition or TV-appearance.
Please submit your nominations to ash-fgw@uva.nl no later than 26 May 2016, 11 am.

 

Invitation to the Grand Opening of the Vossius Center

The Vossius Center for the History of Humanities and Sciences will be officially opened on Monday 27 June, 15:00-18:00h, in the Agnietenkapel. Please register a.s.a.p. as places are allotted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Helmer Helmers and colleague discover origin of Texel gown

Archival research by cultural historians Helmer Helmers (ASH) and Nadine Akkerman (UL) has revealed that the wardrobe discovered near Texel belonged to the royal court of the English queen Henrietta Maria.

Newly-published book by Elizabeth Buettner

History Professor Liz Buettner's new book was published by Cambridge University Press in March 2016. Taking on board Britain, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Portugal, Europe after Empire: Decolonization, Society, and Culture provides a comparative historical treatment of European decolonization from the formal ending of empires to the postcolonial European present.

New source edition by Lina Weber

Edited by historian and ASH member Lina Weber, this book assembles for the first time the most important economic writings of the Basle Enlightened author Isaak Iselin and puts them into their Swiss and European contexts.

Festschrift for Carla Dauven-van Knippenberg

On the occasion of her 65th Birthday, colleagues of the German Department of the UvA have edited a volume in honor of Associated Professor Carla Dauven-van Knippenberg, head of the German Department for many years. Edited by Elke Huwiler, Arend Quak and Elisabeth Meyer.

Information meeting: European consortium grants

On 2 June 15:00 - 17:00 the Humanities Grant Team is organising an information meeting on European consortium grants. Confirmed speakers are Wim Hupperetz, Julia Noordegraaf and Ronald Pfau. 

New calls in H2020 2016-2017 for cultural heritage projects

The forthcoming new calls are a great opportunity for researchers in the field of cultural heritage to implement innovative and crosscutting actions focusing on urban re-qualification, historical memory, European identities, inclusive governance, as some of the topics concerned.
