Seeking the welfare of Chicago
View this email in your browser
Hi <<First Name>>!

In the book of Jeremiah God has a strong message for his people who are living in exile in Babylon. He tells them not to shut themselves off in their homogenous religious community, but to engage with the city they are in. Even more than that, He tells them to "seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare."

There is so much in this text for us to think about related to how we engage in the life of our city. What does it mean to seek Chicago's welfare? What does a thriving city look like under God's rule and reign?  For starters we think it has implications for our places of work and every industry and sector of our society. We also think it has implications for the poor and marginalized - those without a voice in our city.

What does it look like to be part of seeking the welfare of Chicago? We'd love to explore that more with you at some upcoming events where we'll discuss how the gospel impacts our work and how the gospel moves us to action on behalf of the voiceless.

Anti-Trafficking Movie Event

Did you know that the sex-trafficking industry is rampant in the city of Chicago? In 2015 a documentary called Dreamcatcher was made about the harsh reality of sex-trafficking in Chicago and how an unlikely woman is making a big impact. Watch the trailer here.

One of the women in our network brought this event to our attention and wrote a blog post (read more here) about her passion for men and women who are impacted by the sex-trafficking industry. We invite you to join us as we learn more about this important topic. There will be a Q&A session afterward with advocates working against trafficking in Chicago and Internationally.

When: Thursday, May 25th
Time: Refreshments 6:30, film starts at 7pm
Where: The Branch Community Church 6125 W Foster Ave

Who Are We?

We are a growing network of 20-somethings in Chicagoland and in other cities around the country. We want to help this generation connect. Connect with God, connect in community, and connect to their God-given purpose in life.

We also desire to see the local church thrive and to that end we come alongside and partner with the church to serve millennials, the next generation of leaders. We believe when the individual and church are thriving we will see whole neighborhoods renewed and industries prospering for the good of all people and to the glory of God.

And we believe God has called you here, even if it's for a short time, to experience abundant life in Him and to serve Him by fully living out who He's created you to be. We don't want you to "join us," in fact we want nothing more than to join you and encourage and serve you as you live on mission in your work, in your neighborhood and in this city.
