President's Message

Dear Fellowship,

The summer really has flown by! Exciting things keep happening at the fellowship. When you walk in for the water communion this year, you’ll notice a newly rebuilt ramp, a cooler sanctuary, and new faces which continue to engage with us at every level. Committees like RE, Programming, Finance, Hospitality, Building and Grounds, and Executive have all been hard at work organizing our budget, cleaning house, and planning a great upcoming church year! Covenant groups like CUP, Read-a-Lots, WOW, and BYOT have also been meeting all summer to work the food pantry, discuss some interesting texts, and of course to build our own theology! We even found time to host a candlelight vigil protesting the use of detention centers! And, this summer also saw beautiful birthdays for our fellowship house, and our always-inspiring Louise Daniels. These occasions gave us good cause to celebrate all the amazing and wonderful people, services, events, and actions that have called Lima UU home for more than sixty years! With a solid legacy to build on and an exciting future ahead, our Fellowship is well-situated to remain a happy and productive home for the Unitarian Universalists of Lima!

With gratitude and with love,

Happy Birthday Louise!!!

I cannot believe how fast August is rolling along!  We will NOT be having a board meeting tomorrow night.

I do want to tell you about produce give away.  Because the state was so late in passing the budget, the purchase orders are also late coming through.  Last Wednesday, we had Milk, Eggs, Pistachios, Green Split Peas, along with assorted fresh produce and bakery items from the area grocery stores.

We received 9,300 pounds of food and probably had about 1,300 at the end of the give away and we put that in the pantry..  We have enough green split peas to last all winter long, maybe even into the spring.   :)

According to Tommie at the food bank, we will most likely get the same assortment this week along with some fresh apples that will be coming in, hopefully on Tuesday.

Next week we should be back to our farm fresh produce.  Hopefully this produce hasn't been sitting in a warehouse waiting for those purchase orders to come through.  The produce will be coming in fast and furious when it comes.

Please remind your congregations that we could use help with produce on Wednesdays from 8:15 to about 10AM.

Our children grow and our loved ones move on.  Rest easy Rico Suave, you were cherished and you will be missed.
